Has the dates regarding the tramcar's working life on the top of the illustration. Advised by Donor that Jack was a "tram employee" between 1919 and 1922, a Gripman - 1924 - 1925 and a Motorman 1928 - 1931. After that he was a signalman. The photo was possibly taken at an opening of new track event. Scanned from an original photograph by the donor and sent to the depot when visiting about organising a tour. Tram crew in full uniform of the era, driver holding the controller and brake handles. Melbourne Tram Museum 8 Wallen Road Hawthorn melbourne ...Thirty two page landscape booklet on semi gloss white paper with off white or cream cover and single supplementary white sheet tipped onto the inside of the front cover titled "See Melbourne's Beautiful Beaches and Garden Suburbs from a Special Bus". Saddle stapled, printed letterpress. Text printed in black and green ink. Cover green ink only. The book advertising MMTB's Special tourist bus, giving overall tour details on page 1, including fares, time of departures and reservations. Each tour has a map showing the route, details of the tour route with notes and photographs. Page 14 shows a maximum traction tram on the reserved track in Dandenong road and page 30, W2 488 outbound in Victoria Parade. Page 32 has an advertisement for the Round Trip by Tram 1/-. Front cover has details of the departure times and fares and a photo of the Tourist Bus. The supplementary sheet has been prepared for the tours that operated daily from Sun Sept. 18 to Friday May 31, except Anzac Day. Tram body being used to train emergency staff how to recover a tramcar that had been tipped over onto its side. DC5, notes it was stored at Preston workshops and later "used an instruction car to train emergency crews in the righting of the overturned trams. It was overturned several times in this role." Note: - would have been at the time, probably the only way to do this, as mobile cranes were only just starting to be developed. Truck is an AEC built Matador truck. Melbourne Tram Museum 8 Wallen Road Hawthorn melbourne ...Cast hexagonal nickel plated brass or sterling silver badge with a single hole in the top, with words "Prahran Tramways Trust Malvern" on one side and on reverse "Officers No. Pass" with the number "6" stamped in. Fitted with a nickel plated ring. Raised edges with flat sides. Manufacturer unknown. In the lower edge of the reverse of the badge are the letters "STC.SN" stamped in. These are not present on the other two examples eg Reg Item 576. Has been mounted or enclosed within a coin collectors/sale cardboard folder with an embossed crown on the front. Melbourne Tram Museum 8 Wallen Road Hawthorn melbourne ...Set of two fare tokens - 1 1/2d - 22mm diameter - dark brown celluloid - with words "Melbourne & Metropolitan" on circumference and "Tramways Board" in centre of token. On reverse in large font "1 1/2" and a small font "D" at to the right - indicating token had a value of one and a half pence. Both sides have a edge lining border about 1mm from the outer edge. Record updated following a query and being advised of an article in The Argus 1-4-1924 - see Reg Item 3359 for a copy. Item probably dates from c1920, phased out 1924.
