These machete's were issued to military personnel posted in jungle like conditions.The machete would have been used by military personnel during WW2 and during the 1950s.Steel blade machete with wooden double sided handle. The handle is attached to the wood with four steel rods. There is an olive green scabbard made of cotton material oil impregnated. The scabbard has a pocket on the front to hold a sharpening stone and has steel on the top opening to keep the opening firm, there is a steel catch for attachment to webbing and a cloth loop with press stud to hold the handle of the machete in place when in the scabbard. Textiles. Two doyleys, rectangular in shape, and made from net fabric. Outer edges are cut in a zig-zag shape - 2.5 cms long edges ^^. These edges are outlined by a double row of white corded thread. The doyleys are decorated with a large ''snow-flake'' shape in the centre-made with four rows of cording thread. A textured weave, cotton bow, with two rectangular shapes - 9.5 cm x 6.0 cms, with a one cm loop at the centre, attached to a folded double cotton band, 2 cm x 34 cm long, which would fit under the collar of the Lodge shirt. Rectangular close woven cane box (no top wih lengths of canefollowing ventilation for base. There is a bent piece of cane screwed onto one end,doubling the height of the box,to support a mosquito net. There is a waterproof (1221) underlay - no mattress - and a folded (1201) quilt (cotton) inside. The frame is sturdy steel supporting the box - cot. Chipped black pain covering it. 2 metal handles are fastened to top side edges to help lift cot out of frame.

Various invitations, programmes and other mementos collected from Legacy events held during the early 1960's. These include invitations and tickets to the Annual Demonstrations of 1960 and 1961, the ANZAC eve school children's ceremony, also to the Senior Widows Club Grand concert (18 December 1961). The Senior Widows club also held a Christmas Dinner. Also a lapel tag for the Legacy Mothers Club. There are also mementos for Junior Legatees, such as tickets to attend the Christmas party at Government House and to Operation Float in 1962 and 1963. There are also tokens for ice creams and soft drinks at the events. There is a programme for the 1961 Annual Demonstration.A collection compiled to remember various events held in the early 1960s. One of a group of slides taken by members of the Society of built heritage in Kew in 1979-80. The selection of subject matter reflects the priorities of the period. As tourism and touring grew in the early and mid 20th century, sending letters and postcards was one of the main forms of communications friends and family would use to share their travels and remind loved ones that they were thinking of them while away. Bendigo's geographic location in central Victoria and relatively closeness to Melbourne has meant that capturing the tourist dollar has been an important focus for promotional activities of the City. Businesses such as Nucolorvue Productions serviced the need for high quality printed souvenirs such as these.Mass produced souvenir foldout 'views' of Bendigo packaged in an envelope. These vintage soap savers were used by the frugal housewife to use up pieces or slivers of leftover soap by swirling the soap saver in the water using up every last piece of soap.Three vintage wire mesh dish or clothes washing soap savers with a rectangular basket to contain the pieces of soap and a sliding wire clasp which allows opening and closing of the basket. Each holder has a thick long double wire handle to enable the user to froth the soap in a dish. Gowns were typically made of fine white linen or cotton, and often trimmed with tucks, lace, whitework embroidery, and other handwork. The Kew Historical Society's collection includes over fifteen christening gowns dating from the 19th and 20th centuries.Long, white cotton christening gown. Handmade featuring lace on the layered short sleeves, as well as at the neckline. The gown has a tie above the waist. The bodice is designed to form a number of horizontal and vertical panels, most prominently including tapered pleating at the front. The fabric comprising the skirt is gathered at the waist, allowing the full skirt to flare towards the hem. 1946 White crepe frock fashioned with long sleeves and a round neckline with double collar, the bodice is buttoned through to a curved waistline. A wide belt of the same fabric accentuates the waistline, with a long full skirt extended into a graceful train and matching long gloves. The triple layered veil of tulle, with the longest layer draping down the back of the gown, with an embroidered edge and motif, the top layer of the veil covering the face has the same embroidered motif and on the edge.embroidered motif on the points of the veil, as well as the edge.
