Edith Marie Bishop was born 27/7/1907 in Bendigo. In 1937 she married Jim Checcucci who died in 1964. In 1974 she married Tom Lunn. Edith' s interest in the history of Bendigo resulted in her being awarded the Order of Australia in 2002. She died in 2009.Bendigo Weekly date unknown. Richard Hartley Smith Abbott was the step son of Joseph Henry Abbott and inherited his families business interests, building successful commercial enterprises such as Abbott Supply Co. He was elected a representative in the Mandurang riding in the Shire of Strathfieldsaye in 1887, served as Mayor of the City of Bendigo from 1917 - 1918 and a member of the legislative Council of Victoria.
