Yields information about the early staff of the Electric Supply Co. of Victoria following the electrification of the tramways and their appearance.Laminated Black and white print from a copy negative of a group of ESCO employees (motormen conductors and pointsboys?) in front of the tram depot with tram cars 17, 10 and 2 behind. All wearing uniform hats, but not all wearing full uniform (no badges but wearing ties - possibly temporary or casual staff - c1906 - 51 people. Print from a copy negative (N13), made early 1997 for display purposes and laminated. Has four Velcro dots on rear. Original c 1914 (see below), facsimile copy - re-published 1972. Original features photos of Ballarat City and Town, its buildings, parks and the various industries and organisations that were in Ballarat at the time of publication, including ESCo. Many photos features ESCo trams. Photos sepia toned. Has some red colour block printing on the front cover and rear, for Star Oil Engines. On inside back cover is a map with the places of interest and tram route map, marked in red. Pages are un-numbered. Original published by Ballarat East Town Council and Ballaarat City Council. On cover has number stamped in black in, "No. 87" (assume facsimile copy No.). Photos with publication show tram No. 21, built 1913 and ESCo photo page shows Mr. Pringle as Manager. Mr Pringle became manager in January 1911, As there is no photos of the "Avenue of Honour", or other mention of the first world war, assume original published about 1913 or 1914. Understood Mr. Heres passed away some time ago, actual date not known. 832.1 - 2 prints - Mr Fred Heres standing in the drivers door of a SEC Bogie tram. Has destination of "Haddon St." The dash canopy lighting fitted, but only the small white strip underneath the lighting.- dates photo to early 1960's. 832.2 - 2 prints - Mr. Fred Heres in uniform, standing by a shed, cap badge No. 26. Tram has destination of Lydiard St. North. 840.2 - trams 13, 30 and 18 and another single trucker at the depot gates, all showing Depot or Depot via Drummond North destinations - possibly on a Sunday morning. 840.3 - Trams 13 and 30 on the north side of Drummond St. north, with Sturt St. Mansions buildings behind. Winter photo. Set of two Black and white photographs of the pile driving for the reconstruction of the Maribyrnong River Bridge from a tramway only bridge to a dual road/tram bridge. The road bridge is in the background. On Kodak paper. Photo during the 2nd half of 1965. 1419.1 - Early in the process of pile driving - Bridge tram track has been reduced to single track and the former outbound line is in use for construction purposes. 1419.2 - Roadway west of bridge looking east. Shows temporary single track arrangement which allowed the operating track to switch to the south side when piling completed. W5 682 West Maribyrnong on route 57 coming off the bridge. Set of seven Black and white photographs on Kodak paper for the arrangements and work for the track reconstruction of Commercial Road Prahran. Series of photos show Down track already complete. Probably second half of October or early November 1965. (Electric Traction 11/65) (Unusual to have two jobs at once - see Hawthorn Rd - Reg item 1421). Series show the construction method. Temporary track formed by progressively lifting original track on to side of road each night. Relaying then follows progressively. Pictures show almost completed section (1423.1 &2), concreting (1423.3), new rails in situ (1423.4&5),newly moved track (1423.6&7), excavation taking place (1423.7) 1421.1 - Commercial Rd looking west at Charles St showing ramp to temporary city bound track. 1423.2 Ditto - just west of Charles St. 1423.3 Ditto - corner Perth St on left, Hyland St on right. 1423.4 Ditto - between Perth and Donald Sts. Scrap book compiled by Neville Gower from Nov. 1992 to June 1997. Primarily consists of newspaper clippings glued to the pages involving the Ballarat Tramway Museum. Also contained are other items of relevant interest, such as BTM brochures. Pages number in pencil by Warren Doubleday 2/2001. Where relevant some items contained in this book have been separately catalogued to enable easier reference. Some items were already in the collection and are thereby reference with their registered number. Also contains registered items 1659, 1654 and 1655.
