Ephemera - Ticket/s, Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society (BTPS), Book of 10 All Day Tickets - BTPS, 1975
... titled Ballarat Vintage Tramway - See Reg. item 2309. Trams ...Book of 10 All Day Tickets, numbered A000001 to A000010 printed for the Ballarat Tourist Tramway, contained within an off white front heavy paper (front cover) and off white card back cover sheet, with a two staples on the left hand side. Each ticket is from a light yellow card stock, printed with green ink showing the month of issue on the sides and date of issue (1 to 31) on the top or bottom. Each ticket is numbered and has a perforated left edge to enable it to be torn from the book. Ticket punched by the conductor to shown the month and date of issue. On all tickets, just to the under the staple is a vertical heavy green band. Used from late 1975 until March 1986. Item collected for archives on at time of issue. Collected for Archives 30/6/2004. Negative Nos. N393 and N394 and black and white print made by a laser printer (stored in folder) of Bendigo tram No. 6 at Golden Square terminus. Tram has the destination of Golden Square. Has the Golden Square hotel in the background and an Age advertisement on the dash panel. Note the large overhead pan at the terminus. .1 - tram has arrived and the driver/conductor has place the pole on the overhead after turning the pole. .2 - Driver/conductor standing by front of tram. Date of photo on folder - 26/9/1962?? or 1 Jan 1963. A date on the front of the folder of 1/12/1959 is too early - tram has been painted with tiger stripes and fitted with dash canopy lighting. Same date on Ballarat folders as well - see negative number N392 etc. Crew member wearing a great coat - unusual for Bendigo on a new years day. Photo early 1960's. Original negative rescanned 24/5/2020 and image file updated.BE1 - Paper folder that contained the negative had "NR15A" in red ink, "BE1" in pencil, date stamp of "1 DEC 1959" on front and on inside date stamps "26 Sep 1962" and "26 Sep 1962". Yields information about the construction of the BPTS depot in early 1974 and its appearance.Set of four Black and white photographs of how the BTPS operated during the early days of the BTPS. Based on the troughing being placed for No. 2 road only, photo dated by a list in the 1972-73 Annual Report at May to June 1973. .1 - ? Bounds standing alongside No. 27, which was operated as a Museum display. .2 - Just the tram itself - was pushed out of the shed by hand. .3 - A general scene with visitors and workers. .4 - pushing the tram back in again at the end of the day. Note the sign is different in the front of No. 27, or no sign, indicating different days. Australia Day 1978 Melbourne had the biggest collection of historic vehicles seen in this country. There were electric and horse drawn trams, steam trains, veteran and vintage cars and even a fly past of old flying machines. Officially the occasion marked the unveiling of Harold Freeman's giant mural at Spencer Street Station depicting a century of transportation in Australia. Another paragraph refers to the horse trough referred to in E - C - 3 and research by Amy Bunker into the story of George Bills. Ballarat Town Hall erected 1870-72 at a cost of 17,976 pounds, on the south east corner of Sturt and Armstrong Streets. The raised corner pavilions in the design of the building make it unique in the State. This photograph shows a busy Ballarat intersection on a typical working day. Mrs Bon Strange and her husband Bert were well known Ballarat residents.
