The firm of Bolex Paillard Ltd is world-famous for its accomplishments in the field of amateur cinematography. Paillard Bolex cine cameras and projectors are designed and manufactured in Sainte-Croix, Switzerland, which was also the centre of the Swiss watchmaking industry. Originally Bol, the company was founded by Charles Haccius and Jacques Bogopolsky in 1925. The M8 line of projectors were first manufactured in 1949. Its relatively light weight, affordability and portability made this model popular with home movie and amateur film makers.This projector is representative of several types of home projectors popular in the second half of the 20th Century.A small projector and carrying case. It is made of cast aluminum and steel, painted with a Grey Silver finish. The upper reel arm folds downward and locks for storage and also serves as a carrying handle. The lens assembly pivots outward for easy film loading and unloading. The front legs can be adjusted individually for height. An AC outlet is position at the rear of the projector. As Miss Alice Blenkinsop she trained at Melbourne Central Mission, and later worked in the slums of Collingwood and at the Wesley Mission in Hobart. She has also been a court probation officer. A wall phone used in the early 20th Century in Australia, this one in the Orbost district.A wall-mounted telephone with a handpiece connected by a cord to the left hand side of the main box. On the right hand side is a winder. Near the top of the box are two round silver gongs which make the ringing sound of the phone call. The box is mostly made of wood, with the front-bottom section with a metal facing which is able to be opened to reveal the mechanism behind (including the battery). The phone has a wooden writing slope attached to the front. On the front of the metal section of the box are the words L M ERICSSON & CO trade mark STOCKHOLM. As the short Footscray routes were usually driver-only operations and the Footscray Station stop was the busiest, the conductress is likely stationed here to collect fares before each tram's arrival and departure. In the background are a fish and chip shop displaying an advertisement for Savoy Peanuts on its double storey facade and a radio and television sales shop. Thomas Henry Deakin (1845-1915), born in Monmouthshire, Wales and his wife Janet (Jessie) Longmore (1851-1939), born in Morayshire, Scotland had 2 sons: John Henry (1879-1962) and William Andrew (1883-1939) and 4 surviving daughters. A fifth daughter Daisy Jessie was born in 1880 and died the same year at the age of 7 months. Elsie Longmore Deakin (1881-1969) was a nurse and remained single; Minnie Winifred (1886-1966) married Charles Williamson in 1923; Lily Vipond (1890-1943) married David Mair in 1910 and Jessie Alice, known as Alice, married Hector Williamson in 1921. Hector and Charles were brothers. Margaret was the daughter of Jessie Alice, known as Alice, and Hector Williamson. Donald was the son of Minnie and Charles Prosser Williamson who lived at 12 Barloa Road, Mont Albert. There may be transcription errors in the identifications on the back. It is not known who Howard is - unless there has been an error in transcription and it is one of the Deakin sons or sons-in-law, nor whether Jessie and Alice are correctly identified. This is part of a large donation of material from the Deakin, Mair and Young families.
