This item was bought by Lynda Tieman for the Port Fairy Historical Society. It represents a time in in Port Fairy when there were several butchers in the town and competition for customers was fierce. Norman Collins butchers was situated in Sackville Street where a dress shop now occupies the site.An advertising piece that places Norman Collins as butcher in 47 Sackville Street and a rare example of this type of advertising.Bamboo, advertising,give away calendar with green ribbon hanger for Port Fairy butcher (calendar removed). Printed with rural scene of ducks and hunting dogs. Bamboo slats are joined by thread and the ribbon is attached to the top of the calendar for hanging. Mr P L Phillips operated a general store in Liebig Street in the early part of the 20th Century. He was a highly regarded member of the community. He was community minded and promoted support for local industry, advertising his locally made or sourced products. He and his wife were involved in the Congregational church and music. He was mentioned in The Warrnambool Standard as arranging an Honour Roll for the Aboriginal soldiers who fought in WW1, with two losing their lives. The Nestle Company has been a long established business and major employer in Warrnambool (Dennington) since the early 20th century until it was purchased by Fonterra around 2000. The significance of this item lies in the connection of a large company with a strong presence in Warrnambool, and a small business combining to promote a patriotic theme which would have been very important in the days proceeding the First World War. Light white card with details enclosed within a light grey frame and text. Nestle Milk is in large text across the top, above a coloured picture depicting soldier and sailor in uniform in oval with kangaroo and emu in gold. A brown bulldog stands above in front of the Australian flag and on top of the Union Jack. Nestle product advertising is on both sides of this picture. Calendar details are at the bottom with P.L. This yearbook is published by the Worldloppet Ski Federation to promote the calendar for the upcoming year. The Federation was founded on 10th June 1978 in Uppsala, Sweden. The aim of Worldloppet is to promote the sport of cross-country skiing, by focussing on popular skiing through the various ski races around the world. Worldloppet currently unites 20 long-distance ski races from Europe, America, Asia and Oceania which includes 18 Full Members and 2 Associate Members. Australia is a Full Member of Worldloppet with the first Kangaroo Hoppet being held In the winter of 1991 It was a great success and has been a regular fixture on the international ski calendar ever since. It features the main 42km event as well as a 21km event and a 7km event. The Hoppet brings the Australian snowfields to an international audience.This publication is significant because it documents and promotes an event which brings international attention to Falls Creek and the surrounding region. A glossy publication outlining key events in the 1994/95 International Ski Racing Calendar. All items are included in German and English. The logo of Worldloppet is featured on the cover along with a list of events, including the Kangaroo Hoppet.
