The School building, approached by turning right from the entrance, was built in 1884 (check this) as a Pavilion for the Royal Horticultural Society of Victoria which society established the Horticultural Gardens in 1863. Used for storing various threads for mending in the home - cotton, silk, wool nylon.A decorated brown lidded round container coated inside with black and brown type lacquer. The outside of the container and lid has patterns painted by hand in yellow and red of a bird, ying and yang symbols and oriental script all surrounded in black lined sections. It appears to be made from papier-mache which is layers of cardboard glued together and tightly compressed. This can be seen by the damage sections which grey cardboard shows though. It would have been lacquered over and painted. The container has a variety of sewing items and mending threads for stockings, socks and other work. Some pearl buttons included.As mentioned above, the container has various patterns painted on it. A badly damaged thick black hardcover Holy Bible with an embossed insignia on the front cover as well as lined patterns on the front and back covers. The front has stamped inside a circular insignia the words, 'British and Foreign Bible Society, Two Shillings and Sixpence' embossed in the middle. The end paper at the front has come away from the spine, there are marks and foxing inside. The text is clear. There is no spine and many pages are loose. Throughout the bible are several added pieces of handwritten notes on paper, small leaflets a newspaper article about the death of King George VI. There is no pagination. Included are two ribbon bookmarks, one yellow with 'Think of Me. 1870.' embroidered on perforated paper in blue cross stitch. The other blue one has 'Love' embroidered on perforated paper in coloured thread. A black cotton tie pouch with embroidered yellow flowers and green leaves on two sides and pink flowers and green and white leaves on the other two. The pouch has a pink satin border and a pink bow on the fold, as well as two interior pockets and two pink ties (one detached). The pouch contains a shadow apron with a floral pattern and a lace border and it also has a separate beaded waistband. There is also a small satin sachet with the letters "J S T" embroidered in pale blue with a scalloped edging on the gold coloured side and a gold and white wreath embroidered on the crimson side with a white zig-zag embroidered edging.
