1. Folded cardboard card. On the front is embossed, A Gold Rising Sun Badge". A sprig of flowers/leaves and underneath a paragraph stating - One King, One Flag, One Empire. It shows a crown and the Red Ensign. Inside is a slip of paper with the addressee and a little poem from the trenches. Pte T. McOrmond 2938 Christmas 1917. It has a decorative cord around the spine. 2. This is a brown envelope with the printed stamp of Australian YMCA on the top left corner. Written across the top is "On Active Service Abroad". The 38th Bn 1st AIF was raised in Bendigo in March 1916. The Battalion served in WW2 (although not going overseas) until finally being disbanded in 1962. An assoociation of Ex Members was formed after WW1.This is a small oval badge, colours - gold lettering set on a background of dark blue over red half ovals.
