This postcard is one in an album of mainly late 19th and early 20th century decorative and photographic postcards. This postcard is one of only three postcards in the album dating from the 1940s. It recalls Prince Henry Hospital in St Kilda Rd, Melbourne. Prince Henry's history dated from the 19th century. It was rebuilt on the St Kilda Rd. site and opened c1940. It ceased operations on that site c1991. For many years, the State Electricity Commission of Victoria produced a Christmas Recipe booklet. This one has been typed up without the glossy quality of others that were issued from the Sales Department of the S.E.C.V..The SECV constructed the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme employing many workers. They built the townships of Bogong and Mt Beauty and assisted with the infrastructure required to support the influx of population. In the Mt Beauty shopping centre, one of the shops was the SEC Showroom which sold electrical appliances and gave advice on their use along with recipe booklets for cooking on the new electrical appliances. The history of Marlo dates back to the days when ships voyaged between Melbourne and Lakes Entrance. Attempts were made to use the Snowy River for trading purposes but the bar at Marlo proved too dangerous. The school opened on 3rd of July 1903 with the HT Walter Scott. At present Marlo is noted for fishing and tourism. The fete, held each Easter, is a major fundraiser for the school and all money goes towards sustaining the schools Music ProgramThe Marlo Fete is a significant yearly event in the local community.
