Shows that the person was retrenched by the SEC prior to final closure of the tramways.Single sheet of off white or light grey paper, titled "Certificate of Service" prepared by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SEC) for 'Dallas John Everett". Pre printed certificate form "FMI 5-190 R2". Occupation given as "Driver/Conductor, Tramways" for the period from 19/9/1967 to 3/8/1971. Gave conduct and ability as "Satisfactory" and reason for leaving "Retrenchment". Issued on 5/8/1971 by Personnel Superintendent. Has D. J. Everett's signature on left hand margin. Photograph - SEC hut - home to Skippy and Toni St. Elmo
Mavis Grace Lindsay born in 1917 and married Toni St. Elmo in Ballarat on 18 December 1944. She was known as “Skippy” from childhood. They moved from Melbourne in 1945 and spent the year living in Wallace’s Hut. Toni was employed by the State Electricity Commission to record weather-related data. They were to become responsible for early developments at the Falls Creek resort and for promoting a love of skiing. Toni taught Skippy to ski and she practised on the High Plains where she and her husband lived. Toni entering her in the first club championships held by the Bogong Ski Club at Rocky Valley, which he had established. Skippy St Elmo won many ski races during the 1950s and represented Australia in New Zealand. In 1947, the first ski lodge was built by six SEC employees including Toni St Elmo. The lodge was named “Skyline”. In 1957, Toni was involved in building the first rope tow at Falls Creek, called Nissen. He also established the Nissen Ski School. In 1949, Skippy won the Downhill and Combined State Championship held at Mt Buller. In 1950, Skippy was selected to compete in New Zealand with the Victorian team. Skippy trained with the men at the Bogong Ski Club which became a talking point in 1953 when the Albury Ski Club held an Open Championship and Skippy won in the Giant Slalom and Downhill. She went on to win many more races. In 1960, Skippy and Toni said farewell to Falls Creek. Skippy passed away in Queensland in July 2005 and Toni passed away in September of the same year. In November 2006 they were honoured at the Alpine Village at Falls Creek by the spreading of their ashes over Eagle Rock.A black and white photograph of Skippy and Toni St. Elmo standing in the doorway of their hut on the Bogong High Plains. Based on SEC drawing No. BA-D1-2222, drawn at 1" = 20 chains. Shows streets in Ballarat and Sebastopol areas. 1775.1 - tram lines shown in heavy blue lines, with grey and yellow (actual operating bus routes at the time?) routes marked out. Demonstrates the safety record of the SEC Ballarat depot, has a strong association with the workers and Yields information about their performance and dates.Timber framed box, glass fronted, Masonite back, painted black on the edges and front with a slot on the underside and metal catch screwed to the timber that allowed a preprinted poster to be slid out from the base. The poster titled "Our Safe Working Days Score", provided with secured to the poster, four metal sheets pressed with three rounded edges to allow a paper strip to be slid in from the right hand side and secured. Poster has been preprinted for the SEC Electricity Supply Department". Set of two brass manufacturing / data plates from the BTM Isolating transformer that failed Oct. 2004 and sent to ABB's Yarraville Workshop for assessment. Recovered from the transformer by ABB staff following inspection. Plates detail Manufacturer (State Electricity Commission of Victoria), ratings, connection diagrams, windings and date of manufacture (1931). These plates did not reflect the re-winding characteristics, but its original manufacturer. Transformer No. 1267. Each plate has four corner holes. Booklet with blue Rexene cover and round corners on heavy card with sheet of paper glued on inside of covers and 32 printed pages stapled with in, titled "Instruction for the Guidance of Employees working on or within reach of Live Low Voltage Conductors". Also possibly known as the "L.V. Blue Book" - see top of definitions page. Dated 1949. Above title has name of the organisation - SECV - Electricity Supply Department. Inside front cover has space to record name and occupation of person issued to. In bottom left hand corner has form number "596-210 R2" Has been stamped "L. J. Denmead" by a hand stamped in blue ink and words "Departmental Tramway Supt." written in using blue ink. Ephemera - Ticket/s, State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), Block of 200 tickets - 16c, 1969
Yields information about the style and printing of tickets used in Ballarat and Bendigo tramways and how they were presented.Block of 200 tickets - yellow ink on off white paper, denomination 16c, lettered A565800 to A 565999, headed State Electricity Commission of Victoria, Provincial Tramways. On rear in yellow ink is a SEC advertisement "ELECTRICITY makes life easier" with the SEC's little boy wrapped in a towel logo. The 200 tickets have been stapled onto a heavy cardboard back with a heavy metal staple and a small cardboard retaining strip at the top of the ticket.
