A5 sized sheet of paper printed by photocopying, titled "Welcome Aboard the Cable Tram" giving details of the Melbourne cable tram set operated by the Museum during the 1987 Begonia Festival. Gives details of Grip car 593 (built new by Newton Williams) and trailer 171 (reconstructed by Darryl Hawksworth). Also gives general information about Melbourne cable trams and the Ballarat Vintage Tramway, in particular the horse tram. On bottom of sheet has a advertisement for the "Swiss Mountain Hotel", at the time operated by Darryl Hawksworth. Brochures were printed for the cable tram operation, handed out during the time run and during the following year, when operated as well. Tram still has destination of Sebastopol on north end, Fosters Lager sign on hotel and Twin Lakes sign on the tram. Tram overhead has the sheet metal device to assist in putting the trolley pole back on. Two parked cars in the photograph. Photo shows ground conditions at the terminus and taken at same time as Reg. On Kodak paper. 1420.1 - Bridge Road looking east at River St. crossover (Hawthorn bridge in distant background). Tram-bus connection at a weekend. Note driver's uniform. Conductor walking to bus with passengers. Conductors often worked through on the bus and next tram at this time to save crews. 1420.2 - Bridge Road at Punt Rd and Hoddle St. intersection looking north west. Reconstruction of curves. Would probably be a Sunday given that new rails are in situ. 1420.3 - Ditto - looking south east 1420.4 - looking south east 1420.5 - looking east - replacement bus service passing with old cable winding house in the background. Book - 28 pages, colour covers with colour and black white photos titled "Ballarat's Heritage Tramway", Tells the story of the Ballarat Tramways and the Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society. Written by W. F. Scott for the BTPS in 1993. Was an update of previous versions. Covers the history of the horse trams, the electrification by the Electric Supply Co. of Victoria, (ESCo) the takeover by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), closure in 1971, the formation of the BTPS and the operation of the tramway. Includes a list of the Museum tramcars at the time, details of the trams, many photos and a map of the system, depot layouts. Images of each page included in the image file. Mr. Gilbert was a SEC Linesman and was 80 years old at the time. On rear in green ink is an advertisement for the Tram Family Restaurant, corner Macarthur and Drummond St. North. The 100 tickets have been stapled onto a heavy brown cardboard back with a heavy metal staple and a small brown cardboard retaining strip at the top of the ticket. 2210 - A000001 to A000100 (The first block collected at the time of issue 6/3/1988) The tickets are in the style of the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria tramway tickets. Tickets in use as adult return fare from 12/3/88 to 30/6/91 and child return fare from 1/7/1991 to 1/11/98. Note last block issued 8/1/1991. Demonstrates the Museum's ticketing systems and ongoing production of tickets.Four Blocks of 100 tickets - black ink on off white paper, with ticket number in black ink denomination $1, headed Ballarat Vintage Tramway. On rear in black ink is an advertisement for the Tram Family Restaurant, corner Macarthur and Drummond St. North. The 100 tickets have been stapled onto a heavy brown cardboard back with a heavy metal staple and a small brown cardboard retaining strip or butt at the top of the ticket. 2432.1 - A00001 to A00100 (The first block collected at the time of issue 1/12/1987) 2432.2 - A00201 to A00300 (collected at the same time) 2432.3 - A00301 to A00400 (collected at the same time) 2433.4 - A00001 to A00100 (lighter black ink, larger block size the others, was part of a rejected run of tickets by the printer, printing too light, wrong type of paper and too large size to that ordered, rest of tickets were returned.) The tickets are in the style of the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria tramway tickets. Tickets in use as adult return fare from 1/12/87 to 30/6/91. Note last block issued 19/1/1991. Demonstrates the way the SEC advised passengers in Ballarat and Bendigo how the fare and charges systems worked and yielded information about the fare charges in force at the time. A copy was provided in each tram behind framed glass.Printed sheet and mounted onto at least two other sheets of heavy blank paper to form a poster of a drawing showing Bendigo Tramways (SEC) Fares, Charges, and Section Map. Also gives charges for Scholar's Monthly tickets, Luggage, Parcels, Newspapers and Chartered trams. Fares in shillings and pence and decimal currency. Titled - "Schedule of Fares and Charges - July 1951". Shows offices as Hargreaves St. Has details of designer/draftsman and date "AVM/MM / 14/5/51" in top left hand corner. Ninety six page book stapled with a heavy card cover, saddle stapled, printed on matt paper, titled "Talking Trams" and written by Jan-Werner Hente. Has a number of pages of light manila colour paper stock printed with a sepia ink. Many black and white photographs. Major Sections include: Pages 7 - 24 - text as if on a "Talking Tram" tram tour of the Bendigo Trust tram., with relevant photographs. Pages 26 - 47 - details briefly the history of each tramcar in the fleet at the time and some scrapped trams. Pages 48 - 49 - map of the route with reference points. Pages 52 - 69 - "If only all trams could talk" - the story of the trams in Bendigo and its mining history, including horse, battery, steam and electric trams, Victorian Railways impact and some of the personalities of the Bendigo Tramways. Has a strong association with tram crews and the rosters crew workings, possibly inspector Dave Kellett in Ballarat. Prepared by crews from sheets to enable them to know what service times to run, meal times, details of crew changes etc, based on their allocated shift or run from the roster.Notebooks used to record rosters/ runs for crews for the March 1970 roster Ballarat on Sundays .Pocket Notebook - green cover, faint ruled, up to 100 pages per book, cloth bound at the top, contained within a black plastic notebook holder/folder. A Calendar for 1970, by 'The Mutual Life and Citizen' Assurance Company Limited" is positioned on the inside within a clear plastic sheet. The Notebook is headed "Sundays" Has the hand written details of each SEC Ballarat runs, Sundays runs, - giving sign on times, notes, timetables, which run taken or taken by, meal times, notes with regard to special instructions, finish times and notes. Most pages at the front of the notebook have been removed. On the rear sheets are the sign on times for the crews, time out of the depot, and the time into the depot and from which terminus. Yields information about the condition of the ESCo tram fleet at the time of the SEC takeover of the operations their appearance, the reconstruction work and trackwork to rehabilitate the system. Demonstrates an important era of the Ballarat Tramways through the SEC preparing an album of photographs. The completeness of the record adds to the significance.Photo Album - comprising folded manila card covers, 11 photo sheets each with two, one with three black and white photos. Has three metal - steel fold back clips holding the sheets together. Folded so that the metal clips are not exposed on the outside. Has the title "Photographs of Ballarat Tramways Rolling Stock & Track Reconditioning Works". Album contains 23 photos, glued to the manila sheets - assembled by the SEC. All SEC photos except as noted below. Each of the photographs have been separately registered, as shown in the table below. Scanned images made of photos. Conservation Notes prepared - within the cataloguing sheet. Inside cover Typed notes, dated 1935, of the early trams of Ballarat, trailers ex Sydney, new trams ex Melbourne in 1930, and a further 5 in 1931. Lists the original Brill trams still in service (9 Number), and a noted on the recent scrapping of No. 11. Has sheet or print number of TYE 1-250 3045.2 - Photocopy of the same form with fares up to value of 1/-c, three city tickets, no pensioners and parcels of 6d. Original form to Bendigo Tramways. Under sheet number of TYE 1-250, has date of (R6/63). 3045.3 - similar to 3045.1 - but different TYE number and differences in font etc. While fare denominations to max value of 7d, has does not have City and Pensioner fares - used prior to the introduction of these fares - 1/11/1955 to 1/7/1958.
