Photocopies of letters made by Alan Bradley in relation to the use of Fare Tokens by the Electric Supply Co. of Victoria - See Reg. Item 1794. Photocopies made 18.07.2001. Photocopies of letters copied by Alan from the City of Ballarat's files. 1801.1 - Photocopy of letter dated 23/9/1921, signed by Mr. Pringle of ESCo to Col. G.F. Morton, City Clerk of the City of Ballaarat concerning the increase of tramway fares and the withdrawal of tokens due to the increase in costs. Gives details of fare structures, costs, tramway wages, section changes, American and English tramway fares and increase in the cost of coal. Three sheets stapled together in top left hand corner. 1801.2 - Photocopy of letter dated 23/7/1913 concerning the introduction of one man tramcars, signed by Mr. Pringle of ESCo, to Col. Williams, City Clerk of the City of Ballarat, and the introduction of celluloid tokens which would replace slip tickets and work better in the Fare Boxes. Single sheet of off white paper printed by MMTB titled "Electric Tram Driver's Certificate" and certifying that L. Denmead Inspector has passed the Board's Examination for a Tram Driver. Dated 30/7/1946, given No. 2093, signed by Chas H. Elliot as Instructor and S. M. Richardson as Manager. Signed on the left margin by L.J. Denmead Inspector. Form No. 3/232, dated June 1944. Booklet with blue Rexene cover and round corners on heavy card with sheet of paper glued on inside of covers and 32 printed pages stapled with in, titled "Instruction for the Guidance of Employees working on or within reach of Live Low Voltage Conductors". Also possibly known as the "L.V. Blue Book" - see top of definitions page. Dated 1949. Above title has name of the organisation - SECV - Electricity Supply Department. Inside front cover has space to record name and occupation of person issued to. In bottom left hand corner has form number "596-210 R2" Has been stamped "L. J. Denmead" by a hand stamped in blue ink and words "Departmental Tramway Supt." written in using blue ink. See image file 1854i2.jpg Book details procedure and rules for SEC employees working on or near low voltage conductors or Powerlines. Covers general matters, authorised employees, work on low voltage overhead lines, moving a conductor near live wires, public lighting, radio and carrier circuits, batteries, portable equipment, metering work on consumer premises, and definitions. Consists of 32 pages sheets of paper, printed and folded with one staple centrally and then stapled into the covers with paper inside pasted onto cover. Contents pages are not numbered. Album - Photo Album, Jul. 1970
Album comprises heavy cardboard covers with brown Rexene covers, with inside papers of heavy dark grey photo album paper, 36 leaves of dark grey photo paper and two brass interscrews within black grommets. See Condition Details re damage to back cover. Album contains 32 photos - personal prints of Keith Kings. Title page has been hand written to Les Denmead, dated 6/7/1970, thanking Mr. Denmead for his assistance over the years. Photos divided into the three SEC Provincial Tramway cities, each with a typed name proceeding the set of photos. Two further photos of Geelong were at the rear of the album, but were not in position when catalogued. One of these photos may be Reg. Item 1874 - photo of Geelong scrubber tram. Each of the photographs have been separately registered, as shown in the table below. Scanned images made of front and back of the photos. Poster, fare schedule chart for the Ballarat Tramways (BTPS and BTM), Jul. 1991
Laminated sheet of paper which has been printed to act as a fare schedule chart for the Ballarat Tramways (BTPS and BTM) . Gives a fare calculator based on the number of Adults (up to 10) and number of Children (up to 10). Used from mid 1991 to 1/11/1998 when the fare was $1.50 for Adults and $0.80 for Children. Also gives details of fares, single and return and All Day Tickets on the right hand side. Prepared using a laser printer then laminated. The item is one probably put into use about 1996, but was prepared in 1991 and stored. Was used by Conductors and Motorman to calculate fares.trams, tramways, fares, btm, fare schedule -

Yields information about the history of Bendigo's trams, tramways and the trammies and their stories. Has a strong association with the businesses in Bendigo.Newspaper feature section from the Bendigo Advertiser of April 13, 1972, an eight page feature on the closure of the Bendigo tramways. See also item 277.2 - photocopy of this item. Features history of the Bendigo trams, the services, personal stories, photos and advertisements from local commerce - published Thursday April 13, 1972. Tram services closed the following Sunday. The 8 page feature in a single sheet of newsprint, with one half printed upside down to the other half. Includes numerous photos of the trams, one of the last staff photo, and item called "1927 and all that" with the memories of Basil Miller, Senior Traffic Inspector. 2nd copy of the feature section added 12/10/2007 ex Graeme Breydon. 1038.1- copy of the Bendigo Advertiser of April 13 1972 - 16 pages, including the supplement. The supplement section has been "torn" down the middle of the single sheet. On pages and 11, there are other tramway stories - page 2 - a photo of a CRB worker cutting pavement with a motorised saw and on page 11 a item about the White Hills Progress Association opposing the retention of the Bendigo trams - "childish and impracticable". Second item in the same cutting reports on the closure of the Victoria St. route the previous day. Mentions the interest in the trams, the BTPS, and police protection that was not needed. Photograph accompanying the article is of a driver turning the pole at the Victoria St. terminus of tram No. 31. Part of the item in the first column is missing. Second cutting dated 3/5/1971 with headline about the possible revival of horse drawn trams in Ballarat. Item also looks at Council's Tourism Committee considerations for retaining trams in Ballarat, relaying lines, reconditioning overhead, looks at costs of running horse drawn trams versus electric trams. Two Newspaper clippings pasted onto a single sheet of paper with two Punch holes on the left hand side. First clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, Thursday 19/8/1971 of two photos of a bogie trams in Sturt St. The first one with tram 40 derailed near the intersection of Sturt St with another bogie tram behind. Both trams showing destination of "Special". The photos are associated with a tram tour for Ballarat North Technical School. See Reg items 3765, 3766 for actual prints of the Courier photographs. Second cutting dated 23/7/71 discusses the replacement of the trams with buses, the various dates and trams being sought for preservation after closure, including the City of Ballaarat, the Borough of Sebastopol and the BTPS. Quotes Mr. Pellas, the manager of the Mid-Western Electricity Supply Branch. Colour postcard with serrated edges of MMTB tram No. SW5 834 southbound in St Kilda Road with the Shine of Remberance in the background. Has as number of parked motor cars on either side of the road. Tram is showing destination of "East Malvern - Darling Road", route 3. Has ads on ends and side of tram, but out of focus. One is for "Dufor Engine Valves" Card by Nucolorvue. On rear of card printed in dark green ink is "MELBOURNE, VICTORIA/ St. Kilda Road with tram and Shine of Remembrance." Also wording for stamp location, copyright etc. On left hand edges is "ML 132", Set EW. Second copy added 21/07/2001.
