Sepia photograph"Written on back of photograph" Picture taken early 1900's standing in the present car park at rear of Bank, looking North. Mr Willsmore and three sons in back garden. The Willsmores were Wales Ringwood first customers and still have connections with us. The front of the house is in the same position as present Westpac premises. The line of trees in front of house is now Maroondah Highway. Paul E.Smith - April 1985. -

This home movie features people enjoying summer by the beach. It was filmed at Torquay Surf Beach, Torquay, Victoria circa 1947. The last shots of the film show a surfer riding a hollow wooden plywood surfboard to the beach and stepping off onto the sand.Torquay Surf Beach was a macca for surfers in post-war Victoria. This is one of the earliest movies to show surfing at Torquay and in Victoria. It also features very early images of the Torquay Surf Life Saving Club which is the oldest in Victoria.Black and white 8mm home movie transferred to VHS and digitised to AVI file. This is the only known photo of a stage coach in the Learmonth and District Historical Societies collection. This is a copy of an original photo given to the society by Anne Beggs-Sunter. It also shows 33 adults and children whom are all dressed in their Sunday best clothes. Negative - Photograph, Sabina and Will Mills and family, Upper Diamond Creek (Wattle Glen), c.1899
Sabina and William Henry Mills lived at "Golden Valley", Upper Diamond Creek (Wattle Glen) and had nine children in total. Here they are pictured with seven young children. Sabina died in 1916 aged 57 and William died in 1921 age 64. They are buried together at Diamond Creek (Nillumbik) cemetery. Reproduced on p46 of 'Pioneers & Painters'This photo forms part of a collection of photographs gathered by the Shire of Eltham for their centenary project book, "Pioneers and Painters: 100 years of the Shire of Eltham" by Alan Marshall (1971). The collection of over 500 images is held in partnership between Eltham District Historical Society and Yarra Plenty Regional Library (Eltham Library) and is now formally known as 'The Shire of Eltham Pioneers Photograph Collection.' The man is Robert Reid who married Adelaide Helen Holmes in 1857. Some possibility the author is writing about Robert O'Hara Burke, but he was not married.Two letters typed .1) An air letter form J.L. Lonergan of Eastern Pensylvania addressed to Ballaratt University, and eventuallty delivered to the Ballarat School of Mines. The letter requests information on a Mrs Burke of Ballarat, whose husband was lost in the Bush. Mrs Burke ran a boading house. The author worked for Morris Machine Works and remembered a Chief Engineery from Ballarat visiting the plant at the beginning of World War One. .2) A letter on University of Melbourne letterhead redurecting the letter to Ballarat.
