Book - THE VICTORIAN LAND CONVENTION, 2007
The Victorian Land Convention, ''A Vote, A Farm, A Rifle'' 15th July - 6th August 1857 Direct Democracy In Action 1857 - 2007. This booklet was published to mark the 150th anniversary of the Victorian Land Convention. The Land Convention, held in Melbourne in 1857 opposite Victoria's newly built Parliament House, was a far more revolutionary act than the 1854 Ballarat rebellion. The effects of the Land Convention influenced parliamentary debate for nearly two decades. It laid the groundwork for the rich radical traditions that Melbourne 150 years later, is still famous for. 28 pages in spring bound folder. written by Dr. Joseph Toscano, Anarchist Media Institute, MelbourneDr Joseph Toscanohistory, australian, victoria. -

Text, Out and About: RVIB Auxiliaries newsletters 2001 (September and December), 2001
RVIB Auxiliaries raised monies for the organisation at a grassroots level, via a variety of meetings, fundraisers and events. To keep them in touch with head office and to let branches what other branches were doing across the state, regular newsletters were sent out. In the September newsletter, the Rebecca Ryan concert was advertised, the closure of Rochester, Quambatook and Berwick is mentioned, as well the 70th anniversary of Korumburra and Leongatha, Portland, Traralgon and Winchelsea, a list of service badges and certificates and the passing of various members is also listed. For December, a temporary editor was appointed and a new design began to emerge. The Carols by Candlelight concert and changes to staffing at RVIB were the focus of this newsletter.29 pages of text and imagesroyal victorian institute for the blind -

Eltham District Historical Society Inc
Slide - Photograph, Monument with time capsule, Eltham Community Centre, Main Road, Eltham, c.1997
The monument with time capsule was established by the Shire of Eltham Historical Society to commemorate Victoria’s 150th anniversary and mark the former location of the Eltham Town Centre, which existed along this section of Main Road, then known as Maria Street. The unveiling was conducted 10 November 1985 by Cr. Mary Grant (Shire President). The monument was constructed with a concrete base and the main feature is an old tyring plate or disc. The Time Capsule Ceremony involved lowering the sealed time capsule into place, bolting down its container lid and then concreting over the lid. The capsule contains items relating to present day (1985) Eltham and its people including a video film made by Joh Ebeli and also details of families and organizations who have contributed to construction of the monument. It is to be opened in the year 2035. The Society received an excellent response from local people, firms and organizations by way of assistance with this project. Graham Beyer, who originated the project, arranged many of the donations. He and his firm, Package Handling Equipment, donated the time capsule itself and carried out fabrication of sections of the monument. The design of the monument was adapted by Graham Beyer from drawings by Joh Ebeli. Charmac Industries donated the container for the time capsule and a cast gun metal name plate for the monument. BMG Concrete donated concrete for the base which was constructed by Caridi Construction Company. Northbourne Garden Supplies donated materials for the paving around the monument. Robert Becker from Eltham Apex directed construction of the paving by Society members. Terry Hutchinson donated the use of his crane to lift the tyring disc into place. Financial contributions were also made by the Eltham Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Eltham. In 1987 in commemoration of the Society’s 20th Anniversary, Joh Ebeli suggested the commissioning of a plaque to be added which explains the functions of the various items used in the Society’s Victorian 150th Anniversary Monument and this was unveiled by its designer, Joh Ebeli, on October 10, 1987. Circa 2010-2012 the monument was damaged through vandalism. The mounts for the ring had been broken. At the time of this photo the ring had been removed by Jim Connor, President of the Eltham District Historical Society and placed in safe storage whilst arrangements were made with Neil Carter of Carter Art, Research to undertake the repairs.Colour printeltham, eltham community centre, monument, public art, time capsule, carter art, neil carter -
Bendigo Military Museum
Honour Board - EAST BENDIGO PRIMARY SCHOOL HONOUR BOARD WW1, original plaques, post WW1
The Bendigo East Primary School was opened in 1915. In 1916 it was decided to plant an ANZAC Avenue of trees and this was completed on 16 June 1916. The plaques were placed after WW1. The school was closed in 1998 and the plaques were relocated to the nearby White Hills Secondary College in Napier Street on this board. In the early 2000's the Honour Board was donated to what is now called the Bendigo Military Museum. One hundred years after planting, later in 2016 the trees were removed in controversial circumstances. On the board 8 never returned, there is 1 x "DCM" winner, 1 x "MC" winner and 1 x "MM" winner. There are 3 x Wright Brothers of which 2 never returned. The plaque states that the soldiers attended the school which is obvious they could not have due to the opening date. The following Heritage report suggests that the names were of individual soldiers who lived in the area. EXTRACT FROM HERITAGE COUNCIL VICTORIA 2016 SUBMISSIONS HEARING “The Bendigo East School (‘the school’) was officially opened by Mr Frank Tate, Director of Education, on 7 April 1916. Approximately two months later, on 16 June 1916, Arbor Day was celebrated at the school with the planting of an ‘Anzac Avenue’ along a path from the front gate on Strickland Road (‘the pathway’) to commemorate the landing of soldiers at Gallipoli. The school’s ‘Anzac Avenue’ was one of an estimated 37 known to have been planted by school children throughout Victoria during mid-1916 as part of a program led by the Education Department, which included a recommendation to schools on 18 May 1916 that commemorative avenues be planted (‘the 1916 plantings recommendation’). At around this time, avenues of honour were also planted across Victoria to commemorate fallen WWI soldiers (‘the wider commemorative plantings phenomenon’). There were other commemorative plantings at the Place away from the pathway (‘the other commemorative plantings’). Anzac Day was celebrated at the Place in the years subsequent to 1916 and on 11 December 1920 the school’s ‘Anzac Avenue’ was officially opened. Embossed copper plates, mounted on wood, were fixed in front of the trees in memory of individual soldiers from the district who had seen active service in WWI. There is evidence that as many as 32 plaques may have been made and affixed (‘the name plaques’). Plaques were removed from their locations at some stage before 1964, mounted on a board and displayed in the school building. These are now located and displayed at Bendigo Sub - Branch of the Returned Services League.” EAST BENDIGO HONOUR BOARD – COPPER PLAQUES (27 PLAQUES in total). 1. 2441 CPL G.V. LE KIM 60th BATT. M.M. Equipment - Kastinger Boots 1950s
Kastinger Boots Founded by Hermann Kastinger, the company was based in Austria from 1909 to 1981 . After several bankruptcies and changes of ownership, the company Lemipan , based in Pirmasens , Germany , is the current licensee. In 1932, Max Kastinger took over the business from his father. In addition to double-stitched shoes, glued models were also produced for the first time. The decision to use this design laid the foundation for the inexpensive mass production of winter shoes. In 1953 the first successes were also achieved outside of Austria. Sales of the boots took off internationally and were greatly adapted and improved as ski technology also evolved. In 2009, the Kastinger brand celebrated its 100th anniversary. This image is significant because it documents changes in the design of ski boots over time.A pair of black leather lace-up boots with a white leather trim.Kastinger logo on outside of bootsski boots, kastinger boots, ski equipment 1950s -
