She was a Fellow of the College, and was appointed a Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) for services to medicine in 1975. Citation. Honora Perkins, the daughter of George and Julia Perkins, was accidentally killed when a cart in which she was travelling home from school was overturned near Linton.Statutory declaration, handwritten on pale-blue lined paper, written (presumably by Samuel Lewers) for George Perkins, who could not read or write. Asserts that George Perkins has insufficient money to pay for the burial of his child Honora Perkins, who was accidentally killed on November 30th, 1868. Bob (Herman) Hymans (a former member of the Royal Netherlands Navy) was born in Bloemendaal, Holland on 30th September 1922. During World War II he fought against the Japanese in the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) and was imprisoned in Changi and on the Burma Railway. After gaining qualifications as a Ski Instructor, Bob arrived in Falls Creek in July 1950. Working as an Instructor and Supervisor at Bogong Lodge, Bob decided his future was in accommodation. He was successful in negotiating an indenture for land from the State Electricity Commission (SEC). It took Bob two years to build his Grand Coeur Chalet but, tragically, it was burned down in August 1961. Bob also built the first Chairlift in Australia. This was a single chairlift and the structure was built from wooden electricity poles. He was constantly full of new ideas and proposals for the village. Bob Hymans died on 7th July 2007. This Collection of documents and letters tells the story of Bob's endeavours to develop Falls Creek into the ski village it is today.This item is significant because it documents actions taken by the Falls Creek Tourist Area Management Committee in their role overseeing the Tourist Area.A letter from the Management Committee containing information from the SEC regarding ongoing concerns with garbage collection in the Falls Creek Village Area. The major concern related to perishable items not being removed when lessees depart their premises and not attending to it until their return. Unless the situation was remedied immediately the SEC intended to withdraw its free service on 1st May 1965. The Northern District School of Nursing opened in 1950 to address the issues around nurse recruitment, training and education that had previously been hospital based. The residential school was to provide theoretical and in-house education and practical training over three years. The students would also receive practical hands-on training in the wards of associated hospitals. The Northern District School of Nursing operated from Lister House, Rowan Street, Bendigo.
