An article from a booklet about the 1944 Legacy Conference. It is a message to the Conference from Legatee Stan Savige who was away on active service in New Guinea at the time. He mentions it was the 21st anniversary of Legacy. The article was part of an album of past presidents and prominent legatees from 1965 to 1989. Stan Savige had been president in 1929-30 and Patron as well. The folder included biographical details and obituaries, eulogies and death notices of prominent Legatees. Ron Bridger was an avid collector of items related to transport, predominately Trams. These items include newspaper cuttings, pamphlets, reports, timetables, fares prices plus special items relating to events. Items from Melbourne and regional Victoria, interstate - Adelaide and Sydney, plus overseas, make up this collection. State Electricity Commission announcement of changes to the timetable for the trams in Ballarat, as of Monday, 16th March, 1970. Sunday and Saturday have separate sheets to the weekdays. Each sheet is divided into six columns. Each column is for a named tram route - Sebastopol, Lydiard Street North, Victoria Street, Mt Pleasant, Gardens SSW, Gardens D/N. Weekdays show there are more trams running on each route. During the Second World War, the Bendigo-based 38th Battalion was a militia unit undertaking garrison duties on the mainland. This set of images are from a set donated to the museum by the family of Robert Hillman. In August 1944 the 38th was disbanded to supply reinforcements to various AIF and CMF units. Hillman served in the 16th Battalion. These images show official group photographs mainly of the 16th Battalion in training in Darwin Some of the men identified in these images are: Robert Cameron Hillman, VX137175, from Bendigo. After the 38th, Robert served in the 2/16th Battalion. Ormond George Bottomley, VX88423, from Castlemaine. After the 38th, Ormond served in the 2/4th Pioneer Battalion. Ted Phair, VX137488 from Bendigo , who later served in 28th Battalion Leonard John Dunkley-Smith, VX149067, from Ballarat.
