This photograph is thought to be of the younger pupils attending Linton State School in 1918 or 1919. A second copy of this photograph is Registration number 2015-12. A companion photograph, which shows the older pupils in the same year, is Registration number 315. The same dog is in both photographs. The smaller copy of the photograph in Box 22 was donated in 2014 by Peter Stapleton. A laminated, larger copy of this photograph is also in Box 22 (also has registration number 2015-07). A third copy of the photo is in the 'Linton State School - Photos' file. It is understood the laminated copy was donated by Graeme McGregor, one of the boys pictured, whose father worked in Linton for the railways. Some pupils in the laminated photo have been identified - names are on a typed slip of paper which is attached to the back of the copy. During World War II, the School Committee organised the digging of trenches at the school as a precaution against enemy air raids. The trenches were filled in at the end of the war in 1945.
