Jack Lockett was born to his single mother Mary Elizabeth Lockett in 1891. He lived with his mother and grandparents at Waanyarra. Later on, Elizabeth married Robert Burstall. Jack went to work for a farmer at age thirteen and eventually went on to farm land in the Mallee with two of his uncles. After serving in World War 1 Jack Lockett married and raised four children on the family farm at Linga.Scan of an old photograph of Jack Lockett's mother and extended family. Everyone is dressed up for the formal portrait. Probably taken during the era when people had to sit very still as evidence of movement among the children.'Family of James Lockett (m 23-12-1868 Margaret Ann Bryant). Photo taken approx 1904.
