Formerly known as the Rheumatic and Arthritis Association of Victoria (RAAV), the organisation was founded in 1968 by Dr Leslie Koadlow (1920-2006) with the assistance and support of his secretary, Alice Petty (-1995), and one of his patients, Mollie Riches (1896-1979). The anniversary celebrations were held at the historic Como House and Garden. Built in 1847 by the Armytage family, Como House is located on the corner of Williams Rd and Lechlade Ave, South Yarra, on Wurundjery Woiwurrung country. The video promotes the Foundation's Arthritis Self Help Course and its Water Exercise Program, and was available for sale or for loan by community groups. The video launch was held on the bowling green at Parliament House, Victoria, at the start of the bowling season. This photo, taken at the launch event, depicts Peter Spyker, Minister for Community Services, Victoria, with the AFV's physiotherapist, Valerie Sayce, and Joint Action Group member, Gwen St John, in an exercise demonstration. The event was sponsored by the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation (VicHealth).
