Gordon Paine was born in Ballarat, and enlisted for military service in 1915. His connection to the McCook family is so far not known.White muslin embroidered handkerchief. Yellow stitched border. Left upper quarter has a purple embroidered pansy with six embroidered flags and brown embroidered text. Letters to Mr McDonald Head Teacher of Mt Pleasant State School informing him of the achievements of former students of his school. Students are Ron Horgan Form 2 who gained second in the Adam Lindsay Gordon Scholarship, Lenice Willis who topped the girls in Form 1 and Len Fox first in Form 1 boys. Both won scholarships. Margaret Paine was top of Form 2 Girls. They are a credit to your school. Also thank you for Six Pounds for scholarships. Leonard Fox and Lenice Willis worthy holders. The card for the Civic Reception at Williamstown Town Hall for the ‘Back to Williamstown’ celebrations – the centenary from date of first settlement in 1834. It belonged to James and Kate Tyrrell, the paternal grandparents of the Donor. The donor is the third generation of her family to live in Williamstown. Having a photo of the Gardens in the reception card is evidence of the community pride of the Gardens. The photo is evidence of plantings in 1934 A folded sepia look card. The front has an embossed border, the City of Williamstown Shield, date in the right bottom corner and an inscription as described. The left fold inside demonstrates the reverse of the embossed border and details of the City of Williamstown and Councillors. The right side fold inside is a photo of people walking along ‘The Main Walk, Williamstown Gardens’.
