Hydrographic Charts were an essential authoritative source for the depiction of coastal and offshore features shown on RA Svys’ map and chart products. Photos .1P to .3P feature the Beseler Model 4SAF Autofocus Enlarger and accessories. This enlarger was used to enlarge photographic media from the late 1950s. The following description written by Myron Matzkin appeared in the now-defunct Modern Photography magazine in April 1959: Specifications: Beseler Model 4SAF Autofocus Enlarger. Negative size: 16mm to 4x5. Focusing: Autofocusing by parallelogram, wheel and cam system. Light source: 150-watt opal lamp. Construction: Steel and extruded aluminum with pyramid structure and obelisk frame. Other features: Single set of condensers for all lenses, concealed counterbalance for crank-controlled up and down movement, horizontal projection, glassless negative carriers and wheel-mounted variable contrast paper filters. Fire pump testing shown in photos .12P & .13P was performed on a regular basis by the unit firefighting team. The building under construction in photo .11P was built with climate controls to house a map library and digital data media building. All geodetic and survey records previously located at the Field Survey Squadrons and Survey Directorate were centralised at the Army Svy Regt in 1992. This is a set of 39 photographs taken on a CO’s Parade held in December 1990 at the Army Survey Regiment, Fortuna, Bendigo. The Reviewing officer was the Commander of the 3rd Military District BRIG P. Davies AM ADC and the Parade Host was D-SVY COL Don Swiney MBE. The formalities performed at the parade were the presentation of a Warrant, presentation of the Defence Force Service Medal to two recipients, handover of the Regimental Sergeant-Major (RSM) appointment and promotions of four WO1’s to the rank of Captain. WO1 Neville Stone was the RSM of the Army Survey Regiment from 1988 to 1990. WO1 Graham Ragless was the RSM of the Army Survey Regiment from 1990 to 1992. The WO2 who received his Warrant on promotion is unknown and the Defence Force Service Medal was presented to SSGT Phil Smalley and an unidentified SGT. See item 9135.15P for the set of photos of four WO1’s promoted to the rank of Captain taken at the parade. By 1925 Railway United were effectively the PMFC Seconds and were referred to in the media as Port Melbourne Junior Football Club although the Railway United name remained in use locally for many years. The Victorian Junior Football Association (VJFA) had been split into two sections. Section B consisted of teams associated with senior clubs playing in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) with unaligned teams making up Section A. Finals were played between the top teams in each section and then the two winners (premiers) played off in a final match to determine which club won the John Wren Shield as premier of the VJFA. 1925: Port Melbourne 12.11.83 def Williamstown 6.12.48 at Yarraville on 5 Sep 1925 to claim the B Section premiership.
