Prior to the new Brimbank Community and Civic Centre building works being completed, the harvester went through some minor restoration works of cleaning, repairing a damaged panel and repainting. ...This harvester, a 1908 AL Type Stripper Harvester was made in the H.V. McKay Factory, Yuille Street, Ballarat. After sitting for many years in a paddock and in poor condition, the harvester was donated to the Sunshine and District Historical Society. Due to the lack of storage, the Society made temporary storage arrangements at Mt Derrimut. In the 1990's the Society obtained a grant for its restoration. Once these works were completed, the harvester was then located in the foyer outside the Sunshine Library Hampshire Road Sunshine. When this library was demolished to make way for the new Brimbank Community and Civic Centre, the harvester was once again put into temporary storage at the Brimbank City Council Operations Centre, Stadium Drive, Keilor Park. Prior to the new Brimbank Community and Civic Centre building works being completed, the harvester went through some minor restoration works of cleaning, repairing a damaged panel and repainting. All this worked was carried out on site at the Brimbank City Council Operations Centre by Artist Robert Jackson. Once the new Brimbank Community and Civic Centre building works were completed in 2016, the harvester was installed in the building and it is now suspended in the main foyer of the building. This is one of most significant objects that the Sunshine and District Historical Society has in its collection.Sunshine Hugh V. McKayyuille street, ballarat, h.v. mckay -

The railway crossing was required when the Bendigo line opened in 1859. The crossing was a simple gated level crossing that existed to allow farm traffic across the line. The nearby station was called Keilor Road. In 1887, the Keilor Road Station was renamed to Sydenham. The crossing remained essential for farmers moving between the Keilor Plains and the Calder district. The gates remained manually operated, with railway staff responsible for opening and closing the gates. These gates operated until 2002, and when the original Sydenham Station closed, the gates were replaced with traffic lights In 2018, the entire crossing was permanently removed with a grade separation as part of the State Government Level Crossing Removal Project.sydenham railway station, keilor - melton road, sydenham -

In, 1871 the Road District became the Shire of Braybrook. In 1916, this district was transferred to the Shire of Melton. In 1951, further land was lost to the Shire of Melton. During the early days of the Ballarat gold rush, Beatty's Road was one of the main routes from Melbourne to Ballarat via Keilor . In December 1854, troops of the 12th and 40th Regiments marching to suppress the Eureka Stockade would have used this route before stopping at the Rockbank Inn, which was located on Beatty's Road, further west towards Melton. One of the photographs captures a Terrestrial Road surface (Local Blue Stone), one of the district's early sealed section of road. 5644.01 - Beattys Road Bridge Rockbank 2008 Photo 01.JPG 5644.02 - Beattys Road Bridge Rockbank 2008 Photo 02.JPG 5644.03 - Beattys Road Terrestrial Road Surface Rockbank 2008 Photo 04.JPG 5644.04 - Beattys Road Paddocks Rockbank 2008 Photo 03.JPGbeatty's road, rockbank, rockbank inn, terrestrial road -

... Park 3023. Brimbank Library, 301 Hampshire Road, Sunshine 3020. melbourne In 1910, Alice Errington donated six acres of land to the people of St Albans. The land donated was located on the south side of Boundary Road (Now Main Road East), which was the border between the Shire of Braybrook and the Shire of Keilor, In reality, the community was one, and Alice intended the land provide recreation facilities for both the Shire of Braybrook and the Shire of Keilor residents. ...In 1910, Alice Errington donated six acres of land to the people of St Albans. In 1929, the reserve trustees decided to vest the land to the Shire of Braybrook Council due to ongoing rate costs, liability for road construction costs and the need for formal municipal management. The memorial wrought iron gates were added later and are one of the few early memorials in St Albans that have a tangible link to the pioneer era of the district. Over the years the reserve has seen various landscaping design changes, and various sporting club rooms and community buildings added. This photograph taken in 1993, captures the planting of a Canary Island tree in the reserve to reflect the 1920's - 1940's civic planting trends. As of the 8th January 2026 this tree is still alive and growing in the reserve. Errington Reserve is one of the few reserves created by a private donation, and one of the earliest examples of a woman shaping public space in the St. Albans district.5658 - Errington Reserve Palm Tree Planting (Sun Adv 203.3) 1993 Photo 02.JPGmain road east, st. albans, errington reserve, alice errington
