A blue Cranespill Geranium growing on the verge of the carpark of the former Eltham Council offices at 895 Main Road. In the Advisory list of environmental weeds in Victoria (White, Cheal, Carr et al April 2018), this plant is a declared environmental weed in Victoria with a medium risk. Before the real estate business commenced, Thomas and his brother were in partnership as booksellers and stationers in a shop at View Point. Thomas lived in a fine house in Rowan Street, which was called 'Ottawa' Thomas started his real estate business in the early 1900s in a shop in View Street. His daughter Edna was the book keeper and typist, Stewart Watson was the salesman and Stanley Phipps (Edith Lunn's father) was the property manager and valuer. When Thomas Watts died in 1914, his daughter took over the running of the business. She married Stewart Watson in 1918. Eventually the name of the business was changed to Bishop and Earl. House was rented by Kim Tarpey between October 1983 and June 1985. It was one of the buildings originally part of Birds Orchard. Harold Bird was her landlord, a retired primary school teacher who, when she knew him was driving the mobile library bus. Her partner had him as a teacher at Montmorency Primary in grade 4. The house was next door to what is now a bushland reserve near the Pauline Toner Reserve. It was on the corner of Pitt and Arthur St - the driveway was near the roundabout and went off to the right of the driveway that now belongings to 220 Pitt street and which was bushland at the time. It was sold in 1985 and consequently demolished, a large house has replaced it. Home built prior to 1860 for Francis Rogerson and later owned by Ewen Cameron who was the local Parliamentarian. In 1971 it was home of Mr. and Mrs. Menzies Jackson. The home is listed on the Victorian Heritage Database. This photo forms part of a collection of photographs gathered by the Shire of Eltham for their centenary project book, "Pioneers and Painters: 100 years of the Shire of Eltham" by Alan Marshall (1971). The collection of over 500 images is held in partnership between Eltham District Historical Society and Yarra Plenty Regional Library (Eltham Library) and is now formally known as the 'The Shire of Eltham Pioneers Photograph Collection.' From April 8th to 23rd, 1994Grease was devised in the early seventies and was a throwback to the era of early rock 'n roll in the 1950s. It tells the story of the T-Birds, whose leader Danny falls for the squeaky clean Sandy who is trying to change her image and join the Pink Ladies. It is one of the most popular musicals of recent times. The booklet contains many ads, a list of the Principal cast, the male cast, the female cast, the supporting cast. There are also lists of scenes and musical numbers and descriptions of Acts One and Two. The Band, the Crew, the Cast, Acknowledgements and back stage photos are included.

He was able to work out, through various notes, that the pictures were taken by J A Harker of 9 Grange St, Mont Albert in the mid 50s to the mid 60s. Most of the film was 9cm X 6cm B&W negatives. All pictures have been cropped and where appropriate, put through a light filter. They have been scanned at 1600ppi resulting in ~3meg B&W shots (~5meg for the half dozen colour shots). The Harkers certainly liked their hiking – they were ahead of their time. Images scanned from R&K Developing and Printing Services packet of negatives, undated. After scanning in 2023 by Greg Coker, the negatives were disposed and just the packet retained. Some photos may be duplicated in other VC Harker/Weiland family records if the original prints were donated. Greg's comments: Early 60s – Original Negatives. Sea side holiday and valley views The date is best guess. Mrs Harker looks around the same age as the 1958 set. There is a prominent lighthouse in shot – that may help identify where the holiday was.
