A Guide for Drivers on the Whipstick Tour. First page gives assembly area, driving in convoy and negotiating water or boggy patches across the road. Amended written at the end of the page. Directions with mileage and items of interest for the tour on Sunday September 9th (no year). A Whipstick Map 1971 showing State Forest, Crown Lands, Uncleared Mallee - Private (shown in different colours) Water Reserve and Roads. Noted are Flora and Fauna - Plants, Birds & Mammals, and areas of State Forest and Southern State Forest with Mallee Scrub area noted. Also State Forest & Crown Lands Total Area and a map scale. The Bendigo Whipstick mentions area, suggestions of where the name Whipstick came from, shrubs and flowers with their flowering times, descriptions of some of them and some information on the Mallee Fowl. The Eucalyptus Oil Industry paragraph mentions the beginnings of the industry. . The new Moon Group of mines were located in Sailors Gully/Sydney Flat. Sydney Flat was originally regard as part of Myers Creek, later Myers Flat it was changed to Sydney Flat when mining was established and was changed to Woodvale in the 1920s. Sydney Flat Bushland Reserve is near-by. The area is north of Sailors Gully. Draftsman's drawing in black ink on off-white paper. Albert Richardson, a local historian, wrote widely on the gold mines of Bendigo. The mining documents in this collection are representative of the information he gathered and recorded on many of the mines on the field. The locations of the mines discussed by Albert Richardson in the reports, are detailed below: Victoria Quartz Gold Mine: located on Victoria Hill, Ironbark, 'Approximately 220 yards west of western footpath of Eaglehawk Road, where Victoria Street terminates and slightly to the south of the imaginary extension of that Street'. United Hustlers and Redan Gold Mine: ' The area includes Holdsworth Road, Holmes Road, Havillah Road and Wood's Street in the North Bendigo, Long Gully area. Main or 'Redan' shaft, approx 155 yards west from the western edge of Holmes Road and about 200 yards north from the edge of Havilah Road' United Devonshire Gold Mine, Eaglehawk: 'Approximately 176 yards south-east of the intersection of Victoria Street and Upper Road, on south-western side'. Collection of Bendigo mining company reports researched by Albert Richardson: a. Two page handwritten document (copy) detailing key information regarding the Old Chum Company, New Chum line of reef, Bendigo. Sections include: gold extracted from tons of ore 1871 - 1872, shaft timbering, flag flew when dividends declared, engine room, pumps, mine crushed at 'Endeavour' and 'Fortuna'.
