The first Seafarers Service was held on 23 October 1905 in the St Paul's Cathedral in London to celebrate the Centenary of the Battle of Trafalgar and the death of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson on 21 October 1805. Reverend Alfred Gurney Goldsmith launched the first Seafarers Service two years later and the first service was held on Sunday 10 November 1907.The service continue to reflect the full range of the maritime activities in Australia. Representatives come from the Royal and Merchant Navies, the commercial world, shipping companies, mission and philanthropic societies, veterans’ associations, labour unions, youth and leisure organisations, but anyone is welcome to attend. The Civilian Service Medal 1939 - 1945 was established in 1994 by the Australian Government. It recognizes the service of civilians who served in Australia during World War 11, in organisations that were subject to military-like arrangements and conditions of service, or arduous circumstances, in support of the war effort. The original medal is missing in the presentation box. A church service for Legacy widows at St Paul's Cathedral in Melbourne. This is an annual event for Legacy widows at the start of Legacy Week, which is the first week in September. The church used for the service varies, this is believed to be St Paul's. The service is followed by a pilgrimage to the Shrine for a service and also a social gathering of a lunch together. At the top of each sleeve there is a woven insignia of the Royal Australian Air force. It has 4 larger gold RAAF buttons and 2 smaller gold buttons on the front chest pockets.
