A newspaper article from 1977 that shows a junior legatee practicing archery at the Christmas Party held at Government House and hosted by the Governor, Sir Henry Winneke and his wife. The boy was Adrian Childs, 7 years old, from Frankston. The article was cut from the newspaper and pasted into a scrapbook. For many years Legacy kept scrapbooks of press clippings that related to their work and publicity. Two articles that relate to the annual demonstration in 1977. The demonstration was called 'Legacy on Parade' for a number of years. The junior legatees were dressed in costumes, for the production of 'My Fair Lady'. They were Leanne Johnston and Terri Cott in long dressed, and Roseanne Whitehead as Eliza Doolittle and John Fiedler as her father Alfred. The items were part of a photo album of Comradeship activities (from 1930 to 1977) see items 01027 to 01036. The Comradeship committee, including Fred Holdsworth, gathered photos of events and compiled them in a Comradeship photo album for Legatees to look through.The Comradeship photo album was put together by the Comradeship committee and records events that Legatees did and places they lived or visited. Some appear to be trips to visit other Legatees living overseas and social occasions held in different places. This booklet gives information on the Cavenett families from 1840 to 1970. John and Eliza Cavenett with four children set sail from England to Adelaide in 1840 but Eliza and one child died on the voyage. John Cavenett married again and settled in Adelaide. Most descendants of John Cavenett that are mentioned in the booklet also lived in South Australia but some settled later in Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia. The book has been produced by Kingsley Ireland. This book is of some interest as an example of a family history written by a descendant of the pioneer family. As far as can be ascertained it does not have any local significance. This is soft cover booklet of 41 pages. The cover has a cream-coloured background with sepia-coloured photographs of three Cavenett family members on the front cover and a sepia-coloured reproduction of an S.T. Gill sketch on the back cover. The book contains a Foreword, a Preamble, information on members of the Cavenatt families, an Appendix and a Surname Index.
