This book contains stories from various Fire Brigades who lived and worked on the 2019/20 Black Summer bush fires in Victoria. Brigade stories are from the North East, South East, South West and CFA brigades. This fire season was hugely destructive and encompassed most of Victoria. This book is significant because it records the perspective of the thousands of people who worked as firefighters throughout Victoria during the 2019/20 Black Summer bushfires in Victoria. This book has been compiled by the East Gippsland Community Leadership Program 2021 on behalf of East Gippsland Communities. It contains many individual stories of personal experiences from people and workers who lived through the huge conflagrations during late 2019 and early 2020. These fires were enormous, with huge impact for much of Victoria and nearly all of East Gippsland. Survival, recovery and hope are amongst the many themes. It is a book with many authors who contributed their stories and recollections.
