This book has been compiled by the East Gippsland Community Leadership Program 2021 on behalf of East Gippsland Communities. It contains many individual stories of personal experiences from people and workers who lived through the huge conflagrations during late 2019 and early 2020. These fires were enormous, with huge impact for much of Victoria and nearly all of East Gippsland. Survival, recovery and hope are amongst the many themes. It is a book with many authors who contributed their stories and recollections.
Significance
This book is significant because it records many personal memories of those who lived through the destructive 2019/20 Black Summer Fires in East Gippsland.
