Alfred Donald Senior studied Electrical Engineering at the Ballarat Schoo of Mines (SMB) between 1927-33. He worked as an Instructor in Electric Welding at SMB between 1932 and 1967 receiving a certificate of Electrical Engineering, and greatly enjoyed his association with SMB as a student and instructor. Senior was an A. Grade Electrical Mechanic (A.M.I.E.I.s Vic and NSW) and was employed at the SEC Elec. Supply Co of Vic 1927-1970. He became Chief Electrical Inspector for the Mid-Western region.Hand embroidered pocket, framed in timber behind glass. The blazer pocket belonged to A.D. Elizabeth Gregory boarded at Clarendon PLC 1951-1952. The senior champion was the fastest runner. Elizabeth remembers running laps of the CPLC oval in bare feet to compete for this title. She won the Senior Siamese, ran second in the senior 75 yards and first in the senior 175 yards. The plaque was erected at the Mair Street campus following amalgamation of the two schools in 1974. The senior campus was established with the express aim of encouraging students to take responsibility for their own learning (Golden heritage p. 274). Adult students also attended business school at this campus. The 1989 school evaluation report recommended the return of senior students to the Sturt Street campus and the Mair Street property catered for Kindergarten to Grade 6. The gasworks in Anstruther St, allowed the streets of Echuca to be lit at night, therefore improving the safety of the citizens of the town. The gasworks were operational for many year providing cooking and lighting facilities to houses as well as to the streets. This picture shows the height of the flood in either 1906 or 1916? The Senior Citizens Club now stands on the site. The Central Kindergarten and Echuca Primary School are also nearby.This postcard is significant because it shows the height of the floods before the town levee banks had been built. It also shows the need for flood proofing the town. It also shows the size of the gasworks in the early 20th Century. Throughout the year Melbourne Legacy provided classes for Junior Legatees such as dancing, gymnastics and Eurythmics. The Demonstration was an annual event to showcase their skills. Melbourne Legacy conducted Annual Demonstrations / Parades from 1928 through to the 1980's, usually held at Melbourne Town Hall or Olympic Pool Stadium. The beautiful costumes were made by members of the Junior Legacy Mothers' Club and the Melbourne Legacy Wives' Association.A record of the displays at the Annual Demonstrations.
