Tram 33 was built by Duncan and Fraser in 1917 for the Hawthorn Tramways Trust. It was on-sold to the Footscray Tramways Trust. Due to the First World War shortages of electrical equipment, the tram could not be completed. Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board took over the Trust and completed the tram. It was purchased by the SEC in 1935 and became part of the Ballarat fleet. In 1971 the tram was acquired by the Hamilton Pastoral Museum and there until Ballarat Tramways Museum acquired it in 1977. Book - 92 pages plus card covers, a historical survey of the Sebastopol district. Originally written by E.D. Jenkins for the Borough of Sebastopol's centenary in 1964, reprinted with additional text by Lloyd Jenkins to recognise the 125th anniversary of the Borough covering the years 1965 to 1989. Book covers mining history, churches, the Borough Council, early days of the district and various points, eg cabmen, horse trams and electric trams, schools, the Mechanics Institute, various clubs, fire brigade, hotels, industries, and programme of events to celebrate the centenary. The second part of the book, covering the period is laid out in a chronological order with forward by Cr. Donald, the Mayor with many photographs. Centre page has a large map of the district showing the many mines, leads, roads and other historic locations. Tramway photos are horse tram No. 7, ESCo 17 at depot (all on file) and a photo showing a horse tram heading north along Albert St. with the shopping centre in the background - see image. Design based on the Electric Supply Co of Victoria tokens. Used by the Museum as a fare payment mechanism or system. With the use of coins or banknotes being phased out and replaced by digital means, it is not possible for the traditional fare payment system to be demonstrated by conductors or tram crews. Maintains the mechanism or practice of exchanging a "coin" for a tram ticket. Visitors pay an entry fee at the new Museum and are given a token for each person. When ready for a tram ride, each passenger gives the token to the Conductor or Driver who issues a paper ticket. Tokens are: Green - 1/- Adult, blue - 6d - Child, red - 3d - concession, purple 1d - members and guests, and orange - no value - baby or under 4. Also maintains the traditional system of conductors accounting for tokens (or cash) and the number of tickets issued.Demonstrates a fare payment system that maintains a strong interpretative link to traditional methods for visitors.Set of 5 plastic fare tokens used by the Ballarat Tramway Museum manufactured during 2021.
