'Blitz-worn angel' is a poem written by Private "X" who was a patient at 2/5 Australian General Hospital (A.G.H.).It was first printed in "Guinea Gold", a daily newspaper published for Allied troops in the South Pacific during WWII, the newspaper was made in Port Moresby, New Guinea between 1942-1946. Dr. Ian Stephen MacLeod Murphy (1905-1981) studied at Geelong College (1919-1922) and then Melbourne University (1929-1937). He enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy in 1939 and served as a navy surgeon for the duration of World War II. He moved to Emerald in 1947 after running a successful medical practice in Hampton, with the intention of retiring and breeding turkeys. But Emerald and the surrounding districts had no doctor, so for the next 34 years, Dr. Murphy provided tireless medical care to Emerald and surrounding districts. Dr Murphy was awarded the British Empire Medal in 1977 for devotion to the health of the community. He died in 1981 at the age of 76 years and a Memorial Fund was set up in his name to provide support for local students studying Medicine.These objects belonged to Emerald's first and much-loved GP and represent significant events in his life.Pieces of Shrapnel which hit I.S. Blitz was born in Vienna and Austerlitz in Berlin. Both their records are stamped “Alien”. 8 Employment Company was essentially “The DUNERA BOYS”. Sheet of foolscap size paper. Typed lists of numbers and names. They would appear to be foreign names possibly of German origin. Two columns of names. Left column title is Group Leader: "BLITZ E". Right column title is Group Leader "Dr. H.J. AUSTERLITZ". The columns are arranged in alphabetical order, all males, A-Z and A-Y. North Ringwood teenager Simone Kuppler has taken her walking a long way and competed in several competitive walking events. At the August Australian all-schools championships in Perth, Simone blitzed the competition by walking 3km in just over 15 minutes. Simone said "that time was nothing to skite about.
