Photograph looks east across Elizabeth St along Bourke St toward Parliament House. Z2 class tram 111, several other Z-Z2 trams and crowds of pedestrians fill the recently established (February 1978) motor-vehicle-free Bourke St Mall which is now filled with vegetation in large planters. No date is noted, but the recently built tram 111 and apparent absence of Z3 class trams indicate summer in the early 1980s . A document recording the history of the Intermediate Legacy Ladies Club (ILLC). It was put together by Legatee Chas Wilks for publication in the Bulletin for the information of Legatees. It starts with the formation of the early girls' classes in 1927. Then the older girls formed the 'Old Girls Club' which then was renamed 'Intermediate Legacy Ladies Club' (ILLC) in 1955. At the time it was printed, they had been meeting for 34 years and fundraising for Legacy. They ran Special Efforts Bowls mornings, card afternoons, house parties, crazy whist nights, and produced a recipe book. The caption mentions there was an arts and crafts stall run by the widows' clubs in the the City Mall (Bourke St). Also that Hawthorn footballer Peter Curran helped with the badge selling.
