The Bulla Sports Ground, along with the clubrooms and community centre were updated in 1990. Prior to then they were used for various district sporting events but over the years they were becoming run down. They are sited in Green Street. The building is the Bulla Community Centre, which replaced an older hall that was situated in the Bulla Sports Ground precinct in Greene Street. The photograph was taken on a sports day which took place at the Mickleham Sports Ground. The children were at a district sport's day which took place at the MIckleham sports ground. Bulla School competed with other local small rural schools which included MIckleham, Yuroke, KalKallo, Greenvale and Craigieburn. Stage 3 tour of Hume and Hovell monuments organised by Russell Yeoman. At the centenary of Hume and Hovell exploration in 1924 a committee was formed to co-ordinate and organise local celebrations along the route from Albury to Corio Bay. An itinerary was created for the unveiling ceremonies giving the hour and date for each place concerned from 15 to 21 November 1924. The photograph was taken when Bulla Primary School held a sports day at the school for all the students. Parents participated in the day's activities. Students from Bulla and MIckleham Primary Schools attended a camp at Beechworth in 1988 where they undertook a number of different outdoor activities such as busk walking, fishing, visits to the Chinese Cemetery and boomerang throwing. In this photograph the children met with one of the local First Nation's people and were shown the art of boomerang throwing. Some of the students from Bulla Primary School were taken to the local recreation ground to meet the former councillor. Pauline De Luca who was there to 'turn the first sod at the site'. The work was done by the former Bulla Shire Council on the Bulla Community Centre.
