The recreation ground with clubrooms is the Coonawarra Golf Club which opened in Sunbury on 24th April 1980. The golf club and the surrounding housing area was established on former farmland owned by the McMahon family.
It replaced The Pines Golf Club which was within the Sunbury Asylum complex.
