"Bash attack on businessman"'.A local restaurateur and council candidate received abrasions and bruises after a vicious attack by two men at his pizza restaurant on Sunday morning. Joe Cassari, who is standing in Ringwood's North Ward was assaulted and the front window of his shop smashed after he asked two men to leave. Mr Cossari's nephew called the police immediately the fight started, but they had to call again 20 minutes later when they still hadn't arrived. The police said they had another job to go to.

Henry Henty (b.1833-d.1912) was a successful businessman, and briefly a MLA for the seat of Grenville, Victoria in 1866. He was one of three sons of James Henty, and nephew of Edward Henty who is considered to be the first permanent European colonist to take up residence in Victoria. Henry Henty and his wife Marion Ann Henty (nee McKellar) had ‘Tarring’, Kew built for their family in 1872. The Henty family resided at ‘Tarring’ until the death of Marion Henty in 1919. ‘Tarring’ was then sold to Ruyton Girls’ School, and the School moved to the site, (now 12 Selbourne Rd, Kew) in 1920. ‘Tarring’ was renamed ‘Henty House’ in honour of its original owners. The tower features a tall spire with two large faceted balls and three smaller balls fixed to a glass base. Chinese writing around the edge of base. Under the base is round mirror which creates a multicoloured effect through the base of the tower.

This business continued on after the deaths of the founders and lasted until the year 2000. It started out as a general store but was later extended to include a drapers. The building sold in 1966 to Manns. The Terminus Hotel was built in 1873. It was purchased by Annie and George Allen in 1879. In 1888 they added extensions including a billiard room, a dining room and 18 other rooms. After the death of her husband, Annie Allen continued to run the Terminus Hotel. She later married John Haldon and was licensee of the hotel until 1893 when the license was transferred to William Carkeek. Carkeeks owned the hotel from 1900 - 1903 and again from 1906 - 1909.
