The Heidelberg School Artists' Trail extends from Heidelberg through Eltham and Warrandyte and to the Dandenongs. It features signs depicting paintings of artists in the location in which they were painted. World War One honor roll of former students of the Happy Valley State School No 376 who enlisted. The original honor roll no longer exists. There is a framed photograph of it in the current Happy Valley School building now used for community events. This honor roll would appear to be made before the end of WW1 as Ernest Alfred Yung died in September 1917 at Ypres. His brother George Alfred Yung returned who was also in the same battle returned to Australia. Honour rolls were also made to encourage more men to enlist. Margaret Young studied at Ballarat West Art School in 1894. This was one of Ballarat's Art schools. In 1907 they merged and became Ballarat Technical Art School (BTAS). Margaret became a teacher and taught for many years at BTAS, specialising in woodcarving. At the end of the First World War, Honour Boards were requested to be made to honour the men who had served. Ballarat was the main provider of these boards. Margaret Young was one of the people responsible for the carvings and specially mentioned for her work by the Caulfield School in Melbourne. On her resignation, Margaret moved to Adelaide. At the past students Reunion Celebrations in 1930, Margaret Young was to be the Guest of Honour. Unfortunately she was unable to attend due to ill health. As the former j Kitchen & Sons site was being cleared, Lionel Layfield, who had worked at the site for many years undertook several pictorial perimeter surveys. These photos were taken c. May 2014.Series 2 of colour photographs taken by Lionel Layfield again walking around the perimeter of J Kitchen and Sons, but several months later than series 1, and so demolition has progressed. Many photos show bricks, bluestone and other salvage materials. This item was used at St Patrick's Catholic Church, Kirkstall from 1910. Although the item is black, black is no longer a liturgical colour after Vatican II.This is of historical significance to the people of Kirkstall and Koroit. It has potential spiritual significance of the local catholic population. it represents a typical item of a small village church in the late 19th Century.A black robe embroidered with black and silver,The chasuble is Roman style also called sandwich board, Pre- Vatican II style. It is watered silk and it may date from the early 20th C but it may date late 19 Century.There is an embroidered symbol on the front that encompasses the letters J H and S. Hutchinson (Hanna) on 17.5.1946 in Appreciation and loyalty to Service personnel as a Member of the Eaglehawk Ladies Auxiliary during the War years. The Auxiliaries efforts abled the furnishing of the Club rooms and raise 230.00 Pounds for the Returned Soldiers Distress Fund.
