Captain KA Mickle...Captain Kenneth Aubrey Mickle D.S.O., of St Kilda, served with the Royal Garrison Artillery of the British Army during World War I and was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) for his leadership and gallantry. He died on 30 July 1919 at the age of 33 after a long illness and is buried at Brighton Cemetery. The reference on the back of the photograph to 'my brother' was made by Kenneth's brother and author Alan Mickle.
