Gertrude Perry was born in California Gully in 1917. Her singing skills were recognized at an early age. She later sang with local choirs and sang on radio. She was involved with the Bendigo Operatic Society for many years. Gertrude began her working life in sales. After studying book keeping she worked at the Bendigo Ordnance Factory during WW2 and then worked for local solicitors and accountants. The Greensborough Inter Church Council was formed in 1989 at a meeting of the Greensborough Ministers Fraternal, with 8 churches initially involved. The Council organised ecumenical activities and services at Christmas and Easter and co-operatively organised many other activities in the area including the annual Family Carol Service. Vinyl records dominated audio recordings commencing with the older 78 rpm in the 1930s and 1940s and in 1948 the longer playing 33 1/3 rpm vinyl record was released.
