The Uebergang family came from Silesia to Australia in 1848 and were early settlers in the Allansford area. The sons and other descendants also purchased farms in the area. The Percy Uebergang family lived at Tooram Park, Allansford from 1912 until 1992. Percy and Myrtle Uebergang's children were twins, Ray and Joyce born in 1926 who lived at Tooram Park until their deaths, Ray in 1986 and Joyce in 1992 after which the property was sold. Neither Ray nor Joyce married and following the death of her brother Joyce set up the Ray and Joyce Uebergang Foundation which supports the local community. The collection of items from their property was put into store for a number of years before being given into the care of the Cheese World Museum. The family often re-used, recycled and repaired items and examples can be seen in the museum. This item is part of the collection of items given into the care of the Cheese World Museum. The Victorian Education Department compiled set tests for schools. This test aimed at Year 6 students dates from 1904 and includes some complex written arithmetic problems, grammar analysis and an essay on 'Clothing'. Book, Sir Lawrence Bragg, Crystal Structures of Minerals, 1965, 1965
William Lawrence Bragg was born in Adelaide in 1890. Lawrence was only fifteen years old when he started study at the University of Adelaide. In 1908 he graduated with a first-class honours degree in mathematics. He worked as a professor of physics at the University of Manchester in 1919-1938 and at Cambridge in 1938-54. He shared the Nobel Prize in 1915 with his father, Sir William Henry Bragg at the age of twenty-five "for their services in the analysis of crystal structure by means of X-rays". He died in Waldringfield, England, 1 July 1971. Red hardcovered book with black and white illustrations. George Reed was a draftsman who lived in Bentleigh , City of Moorabbin in mid 20th C Phrenology is a process that involves observing and/or feeling the skull to determine an individual's psychological attributes. Franz Joseph Gall believed that the brain was made up of 27 individual organs that determined personality, the first 19 of these 'organs' he believed to exist in other animal species. Rev. Brown acknowledges that this printed delineation for self assessment is only approximate and proper analysis would cost time and money for personal consultation.After Charles Darwin, 1809 - 1882, English naturalist whose scientific theory of evolution by natural selection became the foundation of modern evolutionary studies. His nonreligious biology appealed to the rising class of professional scientists and the general public. Contract tender analysis for the second batch of PMTT tramcars - contract No. 44 - giving the tenderers name, price per body (combination or summer), totals for each type, delivery and remarks. Tenderers were Duncan and Fraser, Meadowbank who also offered Sydney cars as a special offer, Noyes Bros and Pengelley & Co. The contract was let to Duncan and Fraser.
