The Indian rupee is the official currency of the Republic of India. Notes of all denominations issued by the Reserve Bank of India after independence have the Ashoka Pillar and the Seal of Reserve Bank of India.
The first banknote printed by independent India was a 1 rupee note.Indian 1 and 2 rupee notes were discontinued in 1995 and only coins used. However The Reserve Bank of India will soon put new one rupee currency notes back into circulation.A greyish green 1 rupee paper Indian note. One one side is a picture of a one rupee coin in the top left corner and "GOVERNMENT OF INDIA" with Indian script below.
