During her time there, she took photographs of the children, whom she had care of, documenting their life at RVIB as well as the wartime displacement to Olinda when the army took over the St Kilda Road building. Adopting one of her orphan charges, Sister Lindsay left RVIB in 1945. Victorian Institute for the Blind Oral history Cyril Minns Margaret ...In 1942, the children who attended the RVIB School were evacuated to Olinda as the Armed Services took over the most of the site until 1945. Remembering the first day at the Georgian House at Olinda, all the children were asked to write home to their family to advise them of their evacuation. As many parents could not read Braille, these letters were taken first to the Braille Library then to the home of a former student, who had to advise them of their child's relocation.
