Gives an understanding of the variety of special purpose tickets issued by the Electric Supply Company for use on the Provincial Tramways of Victoria.The Newspaper Package Ticket is issued by the Electricity Supply Department of the State Electricity Commission of Victoria for use on the Provincial Tramways. The 3d Parcel Check, and 4d Parcel Ticket, issued by the same body, allow for the carriage of packages not exceeding 28lb, from their point of being handed to the conductor, to the depot. The tickets detail the requirements of use, and a statement protecting the commission from liability. the tickets are all printed in red ink on a cream/ beige paper.Some of the tickets are stamped with the word Cancelled. Some of the tickets are printed with an original number. Stamped in capital letters on the badge are "BALLARAT TRAMWAYS" on the outside, "EMPLOYEES CAR DEPOT", in the centre of the badge, with the word "Employees" in a semi-circle. Printed postcard/ticket for the 16/9/1905 Railway Picnic by the Electric Supply Co of Victoria promoting Bendigo Tramways. Has three views of ESCo's depot and power station and one of a tram. Ticket priced at 6d. On the rear is an advertisement for Henderson & Goodisson's Beehive drapery, furniture, and Carpets. The letter has been sent to Mr Lewis Morgan of Pitfield Plains Vic, noting the trams. Possibly a Motorman in winter coat (as there are no lapel badges). SEC type numbers are on the latter two hats. The Conductor badges on coat lapels and 5-button coats must have been retained by the SEC for a while. Brush truck being worked on at the tram depot in Geelong. One of the gear covers is off. Car 3 in the background has been jacked up to remove the truck. The extended tram shed now has four roads and a space for the three buses that served the East Geelong route. The remaining trailers 2 and 3 (after Nos 1 and 4 had been motorised) and a line of Duncan & Fraser tramcars in the depot. The broken paving and heaps of sand suggest that the tram shed is being extended to add roads 3 and 4 to the west. That would date the photo as 1914. Regattas were held on the Barwon River at the terminus of the South tramline which was linked directly to the other suburban destinations, Newtown and West Geelong. The standard fare was 3d cash or, for some shorter "sectional" journeys, pre-paid 2d tickets. The sign advertising an event on the river indicates that no matter where passengers alighted, the concession fare was 2d, to be paid in cash rather than by ticket whose detailed sections were irrelevant.Yields information about Geelong 2 and trailer 3 and demonstrates advertising for the Barwon River Regatta.Black and white print on paper. Wages record book for each ESCo employee from 2/7/1929 to 30/6/1933 on a fortnightly basis. For the first-year employees are given as a list, with the following years broken down into Lighting Department, Traffic Department, and Depot. Gives the surname and the person's initials and the amounts earned, deductions, and Workers' Compensation amounts. Has summary sheets at the end of each financial year. See item 3400 for 1919 to 1924.Demonstrates record keeping of wages, income tax and has a close association with those individuals who worked for ESCo and the organisation itself.Printed as a Minute book - 184 ruled pages + heavy card cover, five sections, bound, with additional red ink columns. 1 - Colour slide of the former Geelong A Power Station on the corner of Yarra St and Corio Tce (now Brougham St). First portion on the corner built by the Electric Lighting and Traction Co of Australia. The Geelong tram depot, operated by the Melbourne Electric Supply Co was incorporated within the structure during 1912. Operated by the State Electricity Commission from 1930 until the 1960's. Photo taken prior to the demolition of the chimney following its sale in June 1970. Photos show Museum tram 26 in service soon after completion of the work to convert the tram back to an open Californian Combination tram and repaint into the Electric Supply Co of Victoria colour scheme. Taken on 26-12-1987, the 100th anniversary of the commencement of public tram services in Ballarat using horse trams.
