Presented to Warrnambool Children’s Library by Fletcher Jones Esq. in 1950 This item is from the ‘Pattison Collection’, a collection of books and records that was originally owned by the Warrnambool Mechanics’ Institute, which was founded in Warrnambool in 1853. A thick, brown leather hardcover vintage book, The Practical Home Physician and Encyclopedia of Medicine: A Guide for the Household Management of Disease; The Care of the Sick. Directions for treating Wounds Injuries and Poisons - Illustrated. It has a blind tooled decoration on the front cover and a gilt title and the word, Illustrated, with five gilt raised bands on the highly decorative spine and faded marbled edges to the pages. A coloured illustration of the male anatomy is opposite the title page, covered by tissue paper which has foxed markings.
