Robin Boyd’s desk cupboard contained two exercise books (D482.1-D482.2) and assorted articles, essays and other material regarding Sydney Opera House (P1378.01-P1378.36, D179-D181, D479-D480), inserted inside the front cover of Walkabout Magazine July 1966 (P1377). Robin Boyd asked Mandie Eckersley (nee Boyd), his eldest daughter, to research the Sydney Opera House for him in the Mitchell Library, both before and after Utzon left. Robin was writing a book, but was very disillusioned with the way the entire saga unfolded. Mandie Boyd recalls: “It was a huge task because he wanted any mention at all in any publications to be noted. This was the precursor to the current hand held machine for making forcer biscuits. The metal cylinder was filled with biscuit dough and the wooden piece pushed down inside the cylinder to force the dough through different shaped, detachable, apertures to produce various shaped biscuits .Tin and wooden biscuit / pastry press. During World War 2 the State Emergency Council for Civil Defence (Victoria) sent out forms to Municipal Councils requesting a survey to be carried out regarding the suitability of householders to accommodate persons, especially children, in the more dangerous parts of Victoria. Also, surveying parents as to their wishes regarding the evacuation of their own children if necessary. The documents list householders living in the Kiewa Valley including Gundowring giving an insight into the families (size, age, religion, sex), the homes (size, number and type of rooms), Water supply, Conveyance (motor or horse drawn), distance from railway station and school. Papers created by the State Emergency Council for Civil Defence, Premier's Department 1941 requesting Municipal Councils to survey people in case of the billeting of persons who may be evacuated from the more dangerous parts of Victoria. Flies are plentiful and a problem especially in Australia's summer. Farms were a breeding ground for flies that bred in cow manure. Fly-wire was used to keep flies away from food as well as light cloth covers. Farmers could use this sieve to fill with sand etc. to sort the sizes and also to use for eg. wheat to sort the grain. Yabbies are trapped in the creek or river by leaving food in the net for the yabby to crawl into.Food covers were used by residents of the Kiewa Valley especially as many of them were dairy farmers.
