They married in Scotland two years later and returned to Burma for 10 years. The family were moved to a hill station during World War 2, Frank recruiting and training soldiers, Annabel working closely with the locals and working as cipher clerk for the army. When the women and children were eventually evacuated a long journey by train, plane and ship brought Annabel and the children to Calcutta. She began working for the Red Cross. They returned to England in 1944 and in 1949 they came to Berwick. Annabel quickly joined local groups, the Red Cross, the CWA and the Berwick Hospital Auxiliary. The family moved to Upper Beaconsfield in the 1960s where Annabel joined the RSL Auxiliary, Beaconhills Golf Club and attended St. John’s Church. She returned to Berwick after Frank died in 1980, but did not lose her close connection to Upper Beaconsfield. In 2001 she received the Red Cross Laurel Wreath Service Award for 50 years of service. ... Funeral Order of Service...He was very well liked by locals who knew him always friendly and jovial. of Wayne Stuart Bradley born 30/11/1963 and died 9/1/2023 aged 59 years Document Funeral Order of Service ...Wayne Stuart Bradley born 30/11/1963 and died 9/1/2023 aged 59 years. According to Margaret Fankhauser, Wayne lived in Launders Ave on what was Upton family land in a battle axe block down behind the pine plantation. He became a paraplegic in the early 90’s He was fearless in that wheelchair, refusing an electric one he would wheel uphill all the way to the Wonga Park Village shops, but no one would want to get in his way on the way home. He would head down the hill at such a speed it was frightening. At a stage when he was living in his own one night his house started to burn but he managed to get himself out and fortunately not injured. Just after his death the North Ringwood football club posted an article in their facebook account. He was very well liked by locals who knew him always friendly and jovial. -

... Yellow Order of Service booklet for the funeral of Hugh Williamson. ...Davis McCaughey Francis MacNab Frank Linsell John NOrman Ian Harrison Yellow Order of Service booklet for the funeral of Hugh Williamson. ...Hugh D.T. WIlliamson C.B.E. was born in Ballarat on 04 February 1901 and died on 20 December 1985. "He witnessed first-hand the difficulties of rural life exacerbated by a world war that had stripped whole towns of their young men, and the long, lean years of the Depression were to define the way he lived the rest of his life. Hard work, constancy, eschewing wastage of any kind along with a hunger to seize opportunities wherever they presented themselves were the principles that informed his life and career and which, in time, gave rise to a commitment to others and to organisations and communities in which he saw the same ideals. Hugh attained the rank of Honorary Colonel in the Salvation Army and attained its highest award in 1978 when he was presented with its Distinguished Service Medal. In his time with the Salvation Army, Hugh helped establish the Red Shield Appeal and established scholarships to support senior officers to obtain business management training at the Australian Administrative Staff College in Mt Eliza (operated from a property formerly owned by Sir Reginald Ansett). He began his working life at age 16 at the Ballarat Banking Company. He steadily worked his way up through the ranks of the banking industry to become General Manager of the ANZ Bank from which he retired in 1961. Hugh was also a founding Trustee of the William Buckland Foundation, an association which strongly influenced his decision to set up his own foundation."Yellow Order of Service booklet for the funeral of Hugh Williamson. hugh williamson, hugh d.t. williamson, memorial service, martin carlson, j. davis mccaughey, francis macnab, frank linsell, john norman, ian harrison -

James and Sarah Orford arrived in Sydney in 1839 aboard the ship “Orestes”; they had several children there before settling in Eltham in 1854. Three children, James Mathias, Sarah Amelia and Thomas Henry initially remained in the Eltham area. James eventually moved to Brunswick. Sarah married Arthur Butler Young and finally lived in Bunyip. Thomas who was six years old when the family arrived in 1854 remained in Eltham, married Helen Logan who died, leaving a large family. They lived in a slab hut by the Yarra at Laughing Waters and Thomas managed the Panton Park Estate, a selection owned by Magistrate Thomas Panton. Thomas’s son, Ernest Orford was born 1892 at Pitt Street, Eltham and also lived his entire life in Eltham working as a labourer, orchardist and later as a gardener and grounds keeper for Sir William Irvine, a former Chief Justice and Premier of Victoria. Both Doug and Gwen were made Life Members of EDHS. They also acted as EDHS delegates to the Eastern Region of Historical Societies. His significant work with assisting to establish our valued Local History Centre helped develop our home base and supported the continued growth of our society.
