This Harmsworth Atlas and Gazetteer was inherited by one of the donors, a gift from her father who was Tasmanian.Large hard covered book with maps, charts and tables. The cover is green linen with green leather, gilt trimmed corners and decorative spine, It includes 500 maps and diagrams in colour, with commercial statistics and gazetteer index of 105,000 names. This autograph book was a gift to a grand-daughter, Mary. This book indicates that taking people's autographs was a hobby for young girls in 1915. Small brown hard covered book with title and 3 flowers, in gold, on the cover. The pages are faded but were different colours. The spine is bound but the pages are coming away. Embroidered cards such as this one were made by the French (usually women) for use as post cards for World War One soldiers to send home as greeting cards. The gift card with the embroidered card may not have been originally with it. The embroidered card has the date of October 1918, just one month before the official end of the war in November 1918. The name of the person who wrote ‘Somewhere in France’ on the back of the card is not listed but the handwriting appears to be similar to that on another card in our collection which is from R. Kerr from Kerr Street in Warrnambool. No information has been found on this soldier named Kerr. This embroidered card is of considerable significance as a very attractive memento of World War One and one, presumably, with local provenance. .1 The embroidered card is a World War One post card. The embroidery is on silk mounted on a white card. The embroidery is in yellow, blue, red, white and green colours and features a trail of flowers, a rising sun, six national flags, the words ‘Happy Christmas’ and other ornamentation. The embroidery is in two sections with a lift up section that could hold another card or note. The handwriting on the back has been written in pencil. The post card section has not been franked or posted. The card has marks at the edges where it has been attached to a surface with pins. John Henry Lockett OAM (22 January 1891 – 25 May 2002) was the oldest man ever in Australia when he died aged 111 years, 123 days. As one of the last surviving veterans of World War I, he was acclaimed as a national hero during the last decade of his life. Lockett was born in the small Victorian town of Waanyarra, near Bendigo. He left school aged nine to work on a local farm. Later, he worked for his uncles in the Mallee. On 24 March 1916, he travelled to Mildura to enlist in the Australian Imperial Force. He served in France with the 38th Battalion, earning promotion to sergeant and was discharged on 20 September 1919. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Lockett After the war, Jack returned to The Mallee and selected a 640 acres (260 ha) block of land in Linga, Victoria, deciding to make his living as a farmer. In 1923, he married Maybell Ingwerson and they had four children together. This hand-embroidered picture depicts a battle in the area of Ypres, Belgium, during the First World War (1914 -18) it was sent by Sergeant Jack Lockett, 38th Battalion, as a gift to his fiancee Maybell (sic) Ingwersen, whom he married in 1923. Prior to the outbreak of WWII, Germany had an extensive porcelain export trade. Mass-produced and affordable, it was instrumental in developing home decor within the middle and lower classes. This particular example has a sentimental edge - gifting such trinkets as a token of affection was common in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Porcelain 'boot' vase, circa 1920s. White gloss glaze, applied flowers of blue, pink, yellow and orange. Hand-painted gold details and a transferware motif 'think of me'. Stamped underneath 'Made In Germany'. Applied 'Think of Me' quote on front of boot cuff.

The page borders and the staves appear to have been printed in blue and the notes have been handwritten with the names of some of the tunes handwritten at the beginning of the music notation. The owner of this book is unknown.This book is of some interest as it contains handwritten manuscript music and is retained pending further research into the owner of the book.This is a hard cover book with a green cover with ornamental borders on the back and front. The front cover has a coloured inset of a medieval scene edged with flowers and trees. The illustration includes some calligraphy.
