Merrin Bradbury, Amanda Doedens, Alison Skingle with Glenda Watts, Eltham Christian School, 1982 The Stokes family settled in this area of Eltham in the 1940s and were associated with the Eltham Christian Church. In the 1970s this church had met in temporary premises in Eltham. Lots of the original 1920s subdivision remained south of Nyora Road and a number of these lots were utilized for the Eltham Christian School, which was established by the Eltham Christian Church in 1981. The school operated on this site until 2000. The premises were owned by the Nillumbik Community Church who were in operation till November 2010 when the Eltham Baptist Church commenced a lease arrangement until the site was purchased by them in April 2012. The building is constructed of brick and timber with a balcony on two sides that looks over an expanse of grass. On April 7, 2009 Jennifer Gibbons was farewelled at Kooyong, as she decided to retire after 31 years of working at first the Association for the Blind, then Vision Australia Foundation and finally Vision Australia. A very small crowd of the people she has worked alongside of during that time came together to celebrate her work, her passion and her commitment. On the Friday prior to that, she enjoyed a farewell lunch with her current team.146 x digital colour photographs of farewellJennifer's farewells April 2009vision australia, jennifer gibbons, janene sadhu, irene sumbera, eve lustig, don draffin, george zamanis, roberta ashby, gerard menses, kevin murfitt, tony clarke, stephen jolley, lynne kells, glenda russell, margaret hall, bernadette hodgkinson, julie rae, maryanne diamond, terri cooke, ranmali ratnachandra, ron anderson, merrilyn veitch, sharon muldoon, damien mccormack, prue watt, john gow, deb hilton-jones, kenny johar
