Identified in a (contemporary) typed label as '…[James S]cullin Prime Minister laying Foundation Holeproof. Brunswick.' James Scullin, Prime Minister from 1929-32 is in the foreground looking left. The first hosiery mill began on the site in 1924 as Staley and Staley Ltd, run by Andrew Grey Staley and his uncle Dan Staley.
