Fifty nine acres of land was reserved for a park in1861, and the first gardener began setting out the gardens in 1870. The conservatory was built in 1897 and is the last building of its type in a public park.The conservatory was designed by Mr G. Minto, city surveyor at the time. The building is 72 feet long and 24 feet wide. The walls re twenty two feet high and are topped by a lantern roof, adding a further six feet. Miss Olive Codling was a Foundation Member and a Life Member of the Wodonga Historical Society. Many of her prize-winning photos are held in the Society Collection. David was a member of the Mann family who began their business in Wodonga in 1920.
